Football committee saves three tiers

Hawaii’s high school football administrators came up with a compromise to keep the three-tiered state tournament intact today. Representatives of all five leagues voted in favor of three divisions of four teams this morning at a meeting of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association football committee on the Kaimuki High campus. Concussion workshop coming soon

The Hawaii Concussion Awareness and Management Program will be conducting a community concussion workshop July 13 at the Farrington High School auditorium. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free to the public, but preregistration is required for those that need a certificate of attendance. This is one of at least two concussion clinics that HCAMP provides each year. Kahuku’s Reed commits to Virginia

Kahuku defensive lineman Samson Reed gave his oral commitment to Virginia on Monday, according to the StreakingTheLawn.com website. Reed is a 3-star recruit and is rated the No. 1 recruit in Hawaii by ESPN. He also has offers from Hawaii, Washington State, BYU, Fresno State, Nevada, San Diego State and UNLV.
