The future is just as bright for No. 1 Crusaders

By Christian Shimabuku on November 25, 2018

Since its inauguration in 2016, the HHSAA Open Division has known no other winner than Saint Louis. The Crusaders made history by winning their third consecutive state title with a 38-17 rout over Mililani that was not as close as the scoreboard indicated. Saint Louis (11-0) racked up 444 yards of total offense. Defenders were flying all over the field, never giving Trojan quarterback Dillon Gabriel room to breathe. It was clearly the most dominating win for the Crusaders during […]

York: Scoreboard doesn’t define Mililani

By Nick Abramo on November 25, 2018

It was a not-so-good showing on the scoreboard for coach Rod York‘s Mililani Trojans on Saturday night in the Open Division final of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships. But they’ll be able to look back at the 38-17 loss to the top-ranked Saint Louis Crusaders and know they didn’t go down with a whimper. They were in striking distance, 14-3, at halftime. In the third quarter, things got worse in a hurry as Saint Louis (11-0) went up […]

VIDEO: Post-game, Saint Louis 3-peats with win over Mililani

By Paul Honda on November 25, 2018

The result was almost anticlimactic as No. 1 Saint Louis defeated second-seeded Mililani 38-17 for the Open Division title in the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships at Aloha Stadium on Saturday night. An air-tight defense stifled the potent Mililani offense, getting huge performances from CB Korvin Feagins (nine tackles, three interceptions, three deflections and one forced fumble) and LB Jordan Botelho (six tackles, 2.5 sacks, fumble recovery and 74-yard return for a TD). For head coach Cal Lee, this […]
