MaxPreps’ final computer rankings for 45 Hawaii teams

Some went up. Some went down. All of Hawaii’s high school football teams finished the year ranked by the MaxPreps computer. Twenty-seven of the 45 schools — starting with No. 6 Saint Louis and finishing with No. 12,837 Waialua — improved their ranking from a year ago. Eighteen teams slid. Kamehameha’s Kysen Terukina enters Top 10 in the nation

Kamehameha junior Kysen Terukina, the No. 1-ranked boys pound-for-pound wrestler in Hawaii Prep World’s rankings, has jumped into the top 10 in the nation at 120 pounds. In the latest FloWrestling rankings released on Christmas Day, Terukina jumped from No. 12 to No. 9 in the country. There are three seniors, three juniors and two freshmen ranked ahead of him. The ‘Iolani Raiders are off to a strong start in The Classic at Damien (Calif.) with a 47-41 win over Servite (Calif.). The Raiders, ranked No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Boys Basketball Top 10, will play Diamond Bar (Calif.) today in a Silver Division quarterfinal. Former Punahou player now a Harlem Globetrotter

Punahou athletic director Kale Ane remembers Lili Thompson as a dedicated athlete always striving to get better. Thompson was a freshman girls basketball player for Punahou in 2009-10 before finishing her high school career on the mainland. She won a national collegiate title with Notre Dame last year as a graduate-student transfer from Stanford, where she was named All-Pac-12 twice. And now? Rosa-Lasco erupts for 18 in Moanalua’s 62-38 win over Kaimuki

The wheels were wobbling. After owning a 29-12 lead in the second quarter, Moanalua saw Kaimuki come rallying like crazy. Na Menehune shot 1-for-12 from the field in the third quarter. California receiver Kanawai Noa, a 2015 Punahou alumnus and the state’s career receiving yardage record holder, left Wednesday night’s Cheez-It Bowl with an injury. For the fourth week in a row, the ‘Iolani Raiders are No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Girls Basketball Top 10, which was released today. ‘Iolani is 14-3, 5-1 in the brutally difficult Interscholastic League of Honolulu.
