Campbell shoots to No. 1 in softball Top 10

With two wins to start the regular season, Campbell moved up two spots to No. 1 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Softball Top 10 this week. Campbell’s Peter Manuma receives offer from UH

Campbell’s Peter Manuma received an offer from the University of Hawaii, according to Sabers coach Darren Johnson. Manuma, who is 6 feet and 190 pounds, can play multiple positions and Johnson expects the junior-to-be will get a lot more offers before his high school career is done. “He’s exciting to watch and can pretty much play anywhere on the field,” Johnson said. “In college, I think they’re looking at him as a strong safety or outside linebacker.” Manuma is a […]


Hawaii football state tourney replay system getting closer

Officials love it. Chris Chun, the Hawaii High School Athletic Association executive director, is all for it. The National Federation of State High School Associations voted to approve instant replay as a tool for football officials to use. “We put in a proposal to use video replay at our state championship tournament for televised games,” Chun said. “The NFHS said to use it how we see fit. After 21 years, Hawaii is tapping the pipeline to Waipahu again. Marauders linebacker Fiva Tulafale, a 6-foot-3, 231-pound junior, has received an offer from the Warriors, according to Waipahu coach Bryson Carvalho. “He’s surprised. Campbell football coach Darren Johnson‘s team lost in the quarterfinals of the Pylon 7-on-7 National Championship Series Las Vegas in Mesquite, Nev., last weekend. But he came home raving about how well all of Hawaii’s teams did in all age divisions. More than 100 teams participated in the tournament. Students, faculty celebrate Maryknoll’s state title

Hectic, yes, but the Maryknoll Spartans would have it no other way this week. The Spartans rode a No. 1 ranking and top seeding in the Snapple/HHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships to a state crown on Saturday night, setting off a week of celebrations across the community.
