Football combine on Maui is for Hawaii high schoolers

Hawaii high school football players can participate in a football combine on Maui next month, according to Rob Paulele, one of the organizers. It’s called the Hawaii Gridiron Classic and participants will have their skills assessed and measurables scored and the information will be shared with potential college recruiters. In their fourth consecutive week as the No. 1 team in the state, the Campbell Sabers have a third team closing in at No. 2. Waianae, which lost to Campbell by a run but has since won four straight to move a half-game behind the Sabers in the OIA West, jumped three spots to No. 2 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Softball Top 10 released today. Utah’s Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres is one of two setters who have been selected to the United States Women’s Collegiate National Team that will play in Japan in May. Ka’aha’aina-Torres, the 2017 Honolulu Star-Advertiser player of the year out of ‘Iolani who was a freshman on the Utes’ indoor team in the fall, is one of three Utah players selected to the 12-member squad.
