By Jerry Campany on February 15, 2020

OIA standouts Jazmyn Enriquez of Campbell and Leilehua’s Shantelle Mangrobang will have to defend their state championships from unseeded positions this year. Enriquez pinned her way through states as the top seed at 97 pounds last year but a narrow loss to Erin Hikiji of Mililani in the OIA championships last week left her with an unfavorable seed this time. If Enriquez can get past Amanda Begonia of McKinley in the first round, she would meet two-time MIL champion Liana […]

By Nick Abramo on February 15, 2020

Mililani had a beautiful possession game in Friday night’s 3-2 victory over Waiakea. Now, the trick is, can they play the same kind of game tonight against Punahou in the Division I final of The Queen’s Medical Center/HHSAA Boys Soccer State Championships at Waipio Peninsula Soccer? Trojans center midfielder Liam McGehee, who scored two of his team’s goals against the Warriors, is not sure. “Now matter how it is, we’re going to have to find a way,” he said. A […]

By Nick Abramo on February 14, 2020

Led by junior center backs Kyle Foss and Joshua Ishizaka, Mililani shut down OIA champion and second-seeded Kapolei for a 1-0 victory on Thursday night at Waipio Peninsula […]

By Paul Honda on February 13, 2020

Replacing a 6-foot-3, 300-pound behemoth, now playing football at UNLV, sure isn’t easy. Instead of running the same blueprint, University did the logical without Leif Fautanu Jr. Coach Ryan Tong had his new-look Jr. ‘Bows spread the floor and mercilessly work defenses into submission. The game plan worked again on Thursday afternoon in a 47-40 win over Hawaii Baptist in the ILH’s second-place final. ULS secured the second and final ILH berth for the state tournament. Ostin Taylor (12 points), […]
