No. 3 Kamehameha takes consolation title in Cali

The Kamehameha Warriors went 3-1 and took the consolation-bracket title at The Classic at Damien High School in California.

Kamehameha lost its opening-round game to Colony (Ontario, Calif.) on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Warriors broke open a 26-all game in the second half to defeat Fountain Valley (Calif.) 59-50.


The Warriors were tied at 14 after one quarter against Jordan (Long Beach, Calif.), and went on to a 63-50 victory. Kamehameha then edged Blair (Pasadena, Calif.) 67-64 in overtime on Saturday at Bonita High School gym in La Verne.


Kamehameha, ranked No. 3 in the Star-Advertiser Boys Basketball Top 10, opens its Interscholastic League of Honolulu season on Thursday against Saint Louis.
