‘IOLANI CLASSIC DAY 2: Garfield, Archbishop Wood, Oak Hill cruise

So far, so not like day one.

Garfield (Wash.), Archbishop Wood (Penn.) and familiar face Oak Hill (Va.) raced to easy wins on day two of the opening round at the ‘Iolani Prep Classic.

In the final game of the night, Jefferson (Ore.) turned a close game into a second-half runaway, 75-49.

Five Bulldogs scored in double figures. Kendall Munson, Koren Johnson and Jaylin Steward scored 12 points each, and Devon Guidry and Raphiel Justice had 11 apiece.

Garfield will play No. 9 Long Island Lutheran on Thursday, 3:30 p.m., in a quarterfinal matchup.

Mario Drummer scored 11 points and Nalu Kanaluu added 10 for the Cougars (8-1). Kaiser will play Kamehameha on Thursday, 12:30 p.m.

Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Penn.) 73, Moanalua 38
Rahsool Diggins scored 22 points, Marcus Randolph had 12 and Jaylen Stinson added 11 for the Vikings in their first appearance at the Classic.

Archbishop Wood will meet Wasatch (Utah) on Thursday, 5 p.m., in the quarterfinals.

Geremy Robinson led Na Menehune (4-5) with 10 points. Moanalua will take on Tsinghua (China) in Thursday’s first game, 9:30 a.m.


Oak Hill (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) 91, Mid-Pacific 35
Cam Thomas poured in 33 points, Emmanuel Okopono scored 16, and Jamari Sibley and K.K. Robinson chipped in 13 each for the Warriors. Oak Hill will meet Kalani on Thursday, 6:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal.

Kala Nakaya‘s 12 points paced the Owls (7-3). MPI meets ‘Iolani on Thursday, 2 p.m.

    Oh crap, it’s Kalani vs. Oak Hill today. I hope there are no cameras there to record because it will be ugly. Oak Hill could win it by 100 points if they really wanted to.
