Iolani’s volleyball team is not the only squad on campus looking to return to prominence.
The boys bowling team beat Punahou 2-1 this week to secure its place in states, a rare occurrence indeed. Kennan Kaneshiro led the way for the Raiders with a 202 game and Austin Okazaki had the high series with a 561. They will join Damien at the Billy Tees State Bowling Championships on Kauai beginning Oct. 29.
Iolani is one team that has not found much success over the years, never having an individual state champion or team title. The only time it even contended for a team crown was 2012, when Curt Wong led them to a fifth-place finish.
The league is as Hickam Lanes for its Jared Kaufmann Singles and Doubles tournament. Individual champions will be crowned on Friday.
