No. 1 Mid-Pacific (11-3) and No. 6 Kamehameha (8-5) square off at overcast Goeas Field. The Owls can clinch the ILH regular-season title with a win. Saint Louis needs a Kamehameha win to keep hope alive.


Kamehameha coach Tommy Perkins is absent today due to jury duty.

1st
Owls score two runs in the top half against Hunter Breault. Jacob Maekawa leads off with a double to left-center, Alex Oley is hit by a curve ball that didn’t curve and Chase Wago’s sac bunt becomes an infield single. Bases loaded.

Ryne Yamashiro’s bloop single over first base brings Maekawa home from third. MPI 1-0.

Next pitch is in the dirt and scoots past the catcher, with Oley scoring easily. MPI 2-0. Breault retires the next three batters to elude any more damage.

Oley on the mound for MPI. He surrenders a one-out single to Logan Salcedo and that’s all.

2nd
Owls add a run in the top of the second. Zachary Gushiken leads off with a single to right, Hunter Hill sacs him over to seconds and Maekawa singles to left, scoring Gushiken. MPI 3-0.

Wago pops out to end the inning, but he indicates catxher interference and Coach Dunn Muramaru asks the home plate umpire to ask for assistance. Call stands.

Oley retires the Warriors 1-2-3 closing with a strikeout of Micah Hee.

3rd
Another run by MPI. Wong one-out single to center, Tengsn down 0-2 count, takes a ball, and then socks a two-out double off the right-field fence. Wong scores easily. MPI 4-0.


Penzetta two-out double to right and he scores on a single to center by pinch hitter Hunter Fukitani. MPI 4, KS 1.

There are three Hunters in this game.

4th
Takemura grounds to short but catxher’so interference is called. That’s it for Breault. Aina Racoma is warming up. Racoma drill Maekawa on the shoulder. Racoma gets ahead on Oley 0-2 after two foul balls on sac bunt attempts. Count is 1-2 when Oley belts a fastball over the left-field fence. That’s a three-run tater. MPI 7-1.

Oley retires Kamehameha 1-2-3. The lefty has fanned two and walked none.

5th
Ricky Costa enters at pitcher. He gets two deep fly outs and an infield pop out, the first scoreless and hitless inning of the game by the Owls’ offense.

Costa gets another scoreless inning in relief. He plunks Hill to start the bottom of the fifth, but with Hill on third with two outs, Wago lines out to second.

6th
Hill gets HBP to lead off the inning, but is stranded at third.

Oley goes 1-2-3 through the Warriors’ top three batters in the lineup.


7th
Michael China’s two-run double scores pinch runner Jacob Yoshino and Tengan. MPI 9-1.

Oley retires KS in order for a four-hit, complete-game win. Owls clinch the ILH regular-season title.
