Campbell right-hander Ian Kahaloa and Kentucky outfielder Ka’ai Tom, who graduated from Saint Louis in 2012, are listed in Baseball America’s final top 500 draft prospects list.
Kahaloa, the 2015 Honolulu Star-Advertiser player of the year, is ranked No. 113 while Tom checks in at No. 239.
Kahaloa went 5-0 with a 0.16 ERA, allowing his only earned run in his last outing, a memorable 138-pitch effort in a 10-inning win over Kamehameha in the state semifinals.
He struck out 72 in 44 innings with only four walks and was a terror at the plate as well, batting third for the state champion Sabers. He hit .520 with three triples and 15 RBIs.
Tom spent one season in junior college before transferring to Kentucky for the 2014 season. He was named first-team All-SEC as a sophomore hitting .328 with 13 doubles, three homers and 41 RBIs. As a junior, Tom hit .375 with 16 doubles, a triple, five homers and 51 RBIs.
The draft slot value for the No. 113 overall pick is listed at $503,100 while the 239th pick is set for $171,900.
The 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft is June 8-10.
