He is not doing any interviews for now, but the state’s top-rated college football recruit has made a choice.

Saint Louis senior Faatui Tuitele announced on social media Sunday night that he has committed to Washington. The 6-foot-4, 299-pound Saint Louis senior has scholarship offers from 39 schools.

He is the No. 42 overall prospect in the country and No. 4 at his position according to 247sports.com.

Tuitele joins an impressive class out of Hawaii headed to Washington. Kahuku linebacker Miki Ah You, Kaimuki defensive tackle Sama Paama, Kapolei offensive lineman Julius Buelow and Punahou kicker Tim Horn have all committed to the Huskies.

Players can sign as soon as next month.

Tuitele and Ah You were the only juniors to make the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State first team last season on defense.

As NOTES would say, “STL stole this kid from our community! Cal Lee recruited him! His aunty’s, cousin’s, sister’s, mother’s, mailman’s former roommate was born and raised in Kahuku. So that makes him family! And that makes him ours!”

On the real, good job young man! Best of luck to you in Seattle, uce!

The only reason he would pick UW or Alabama is he’s afraid to compete! I hope its just a rumor but Why wouldn’t you go to where the best go?

  3. Education First November 19, 2018 7:01 am

@Kamehameha, there are many factors that could have persuaded him to choose UW. First of all is environment. Maybe he prefers the West Coast. Next, maybe he feel more comfortable with the UW coaching staff and the defensive schemes they run. Also, UW is ranked higher academically than Alabama. And there are so many other factors.

There are hundreds of players all over the country who choose other top 25 programs versus Alabama.. Alabama, while arguably the most successful program in terms of national titles isn’t always the best choice for each player.

If he was afraid to compete, I am pretty confident that 39 schools wouldn’t have offered him.

I really could care less where these kids end up if they don’t pick the home team!

You guys talking trash is unreal. He’s afraid to compete???? Maybe he made his decision on the school instead of the football team?!?!?!?! Maybe UW offers courses that Bama does not? Maybe he just felt more comfortable in Washington than in the other states during his visits??? Damn you guys talking trash are just crappy humans.

Dang whoever Coach Pete have recruiting in Hawai’i is sure paying off. I believe last year they also landed that Zion kid from pearl city. But i think this year they hit the jackpot with 3 defensive studs. Tui, miki and paama these 3 have a chance to play in the league.

  14. Boolakanaka November 20, 2018 12:18 pm

Hmmmn, Bama has a great great football program, and not much else. The state is pretty poor and the school itself is just marginal. Seattle and Udub are highly ranked at once from an Economics, beauty, and very highly regarded in general. In short, if you are just aiming at football, you have missed much of the bigger picture of life. Coming from a former bow…

  15. Kamehameha #! November 20, 2018 2:14 pm

There is nothing good about UW and Seattle! That city stinks and their football teams (Seattle, UW) stinks. Who wants to wear a purple uniform? If you gonna go PAC 12 and academic is your #1 reason, Hello, Have you ever heard of Stanford, Cal Berkley? After you watch WASSU beat the purple out of them this week, you better find somewhere else to go. Gabriel is going Georgia for crying out loud!

I Mad Brah! Kale Aho the #1 LB recruit in the Nation last year committed to UW and enrolled there for two weeks. He was there two weeks before he realized he just made the biggest mistake of his life and transferred to Alabama. He’s backing upK two all American who will be first rd. draft picks this year and he’ll be next in line to be the next first rd. draft! But then again, these guys were 5 stars like Tua.

  18. Boolakanaka November 21, 2018 9:06 am

Kamehameha sounds like all the erudite wisdom of someone who has a total of two semesters of community college and is still living at their moms hale—and as well, someone who never really played the game.

  19. Kamehameha #! November 21, 2018 12:42 pm

“Boolakanaka” I am just stating my opinion and you don’t have to be rude! But then again, I might be lying! Don’t believe everything you see on line!

  20. HailFromDaNorth November 21, 2018 4:42 pm

Good luck, Chris Peterson got some top recruits out of the 808. Him, miki and the kaimuki kid is gonna tear it up!!

  21. Pua Lane November 25, 2018 1:12 pm

Husky D-line Coach Ikaika Malloe hard at work for UW in the 808. Malloe has visited numerous local high schools, but unfortunately heard that he could not proceed due to their grades. Lesson is to take care of business in the classroom, boys!
