Kauai High girls OK after auto accident

The Kauai High girls soccer players who were hurt in an auto accident Friday afternoon were all discharged from a hospital and made it to that night’s Division II state tournament semifinal game at Waipahu, according to Hawaii High School Athletic Association executive director Chris Chun.

No official word was given on how many girls were injured, but all of them (passengers in a team rental van) except one played in the game. The other one did not play due to a previous injury.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday afternoon, but was moved to 7 p.m. at Waipahu to give more time for the Red Raiders to care for their teammates.

The Red Raiders lost the game 2-0 to Kamehameha-Hawaii, which ended up losing in the D-II final 3-2 to Hawaii Prep on Saturday at Waipio Peninsula.
