  1. !!! November 3, 2018 12:43 am

The red raiders are going to get spanked..

  2. Realist808 November 3, 2018 1:11 am

St. Louis is the 1 seed playing the 3 seed while the 2 plays the 4…….this format is trash. Everything about the state tournament makes no sense and needs to seriously be addressed.

  3. Hawaii born November 3, 2018 2:55 am

1 vs 4 is more unfair and 1 vs 2 dont make sense that should be for the final….so 1 vs 3 is most logical…

  4. sense November 3, 2018 6:01 am

Realist808, anything to try and get the best team in the OIA against the best in the ILH. If they wanted to see the best play the best, just should have been OIA champ against ILH champ. Which this year would make more sense since Mililani and St. Louis never played during the regular season, thereby making this a one shot deal, just like the ILH playoffs.

Unlike, where in the OIA, the 3rd place team has 3 chances to win the title. But, it is what it is. The HHSAA trying to make gate receipts for the OIA, but don’t want to see their top 1 and 2 OIA teams cannabalize their chances at the title. Here is an idea, separate the OIA open into East/West, like the old days before divisions, then 2 from each side go for the title, winner take all, winner plays ILH champ, no 2nd and 3rd place OIA team in the tournament. Didn’t make sense when 4 out of the 6 OIA teams make the OIA tournament, and the top three OIA teams make states. If people agreed to that, then, Punahou should have made it too. The top 4 in the state tourney, should have been St. Louis, Punahou, Mililani and Campbell based on regular standings.

  5. Robocop November 3, 2018 6:08 am

1 vs 3 is not more logical. There is no incentive to get the #1 seed if the #2 seed gets the easier match up

  6. No brainer scheduler1 November 3, 2018 6:11 am

What’s all the BS schedule of Mililsni vs Campbell and
    t. Louis vs Kahuku. It just does not make any sense at all.

Makes more sense to give all the teams a 1 week buy and than schedule the finals on November 16th . It’s a no Brianer!!! What’s the big deal?????

    Finals : November 16, 2018
Kahuku vs Campbell – Semi Game
St. Louis vs Mililani – finals

  7. Wainakea November 3, 2018 6:20 am

Well with the current format of 1ILH and 3 OIA teams, this is inevitable. ILH champ will be a 1/2 seed no matter what so it puts them virtually at #2 seed no matter what the situation.

Honestly either they should expand it to 6 teams with 2 ILH 4 OIA or just have it like the old prep bowl as there are no other leagues in the open.

  8. Kamehameha #! November 3, 2018 6:28 am

Please don’t show up to play St. louis! You absolutely have no chance of winning and you will get humiliated! St. Louis don’t even play their best players. Last game I went to, I saw Tuitele eating Pizza on the sideline before halftime. I think it was against Kahuku about a month ago. I never thought I would ever say this but here it is. Kahuku doesn’t belong on the same field as St. Louis! And will soon find out with Mililani too>

  9. notes November 3, 2018 6:47 am

    State semis in 2 weeks:
    Kahuku vs Hawaii allstars
    West Oahu vs Central Oahu

  10. To da hale November 3, 2018 7:57 am

    #7 notes
Good one, but the 2nd game should be amended as:
    West Allstars vs Central Allstars.

  11. Former OIA Insider November 3, 2018 8:41 am

There’s a reason why it is St. Louis vs Kahuku and it has nothing to do with is St. Louis the #1 or is Mililani the #1. The HHSAA tournament seating rules state that a league champion (Mililani) and its runner-up (Kahuku) shall be placed in opposite brackets, it is weird looking because their are only 4 teams and two brackets. Which is also why if you notice their are no “playoff ranking” next to each teamThis is why in other sports, when ILH has 2 berths, it is always possible for an all-ILH final.

  12. Dixon Yamada November 3, 2018 9:28 am

Just hope Robert Victor ain’t the ref for any of these games!

  13. Ugly Olos November 3, 2018 11:20 am

Robert Victor and his uncle, Marshall Harvest, will guarantee referee the HHSAA tournament. The only questions are: 1) which one of these clowns will wear the white hat; and 2) how many points will they spot the OIA teams. The OIA can’t risk having their teams eliminated from the football finals like it happens in all other state championships.

  14. ST.LouAcademyVsSt.BoscoAcademyYesPlease November 3, 2018 12:15 pm

Respectfully KAHUKU AND MILLZ dont have a prayer this year against ST.LOU Academy.

Make St. LouLou vs St. John Bosco happen.. thats the kind of fair matchup i like see. 2 schools that recruit the best from there state going head to head! MAKE IT HAPPEN COACH LEE!!

    BREAKDOWN OF OPEN DIV TALENT:

    Campbell WEST / “DE” allstars
MILILANI Central Oahu / “DE” Allstars
    Kapolei WESTSIDE / “DE” Allstars
Kahuku Poly Transfer/Utah Allstars (*not this year)
St. Louis Academy Hawaii state ALL STARS
Punahou Hawaii State / “Kahuku” All Stars
Farrington “Lose all there talent to ILH” GOVS
Waianae “Lose all there studs to ILH” Seariders
    Kamehameha Warriors

Although this going ruffel a few feathers i know inside yall be laughing CUZ U KNOW ITS TRUE!. Just having fun with Kahuku cuz u guys still good with or without some transfers and lose A SHIT LOAD of talent to St. Louis academy and Punahou . As far as Millz and Campbell .. THANK YORK and JOHNSON for going out and recruiting the talent to bring to your school. LMAO

  15. Hammer November 3, 2018 12:59 pm

Nobody talking about farrington was still playing when other teams is so much better th he OIA should never make state championship that’s means the best play the best and you no that’s not happening there very unfair to the guy’s that deserve to be in the tournament but can’t forget we live in the most corrupt country in America with being said that’s what we get assholes if IOLANI girls didn’t get a chance to get in the state tournament they wouldn’t have won when you are number 1 in the state you play number 4 period every tournaments in America is run that way I would like to know who in the OIA is making these bull shit rules

  16. Ugly Olos November 3, 2018 2:17 pm

Ray Fujino and the OIA principals and ADs who strong arm the ILH and out-isles. ILH will help themselves if Pac 5, Iolani, Damien and STF just agree to play STL, Pun and Kam every year 2 times per year like how it was in 1999. Then have JV programs for all ILH teams. If you have to choose between JV and Intermediate programs, choose JV because the younger kids can play Pop Warner or JPS. Need to bridge the gap between 9th and 10 grade and varsity play. Then bring back a modified prep bowl. 2 top teams from OIA, ILH, MIL, BIFF. 8 teams in 3 week playoff and Championship. The current format is dodo.

  17. Aaron November 3, 2018 6:17 pm

If Kaniho and Alex Fonoimoana Vaoumu can play the defense will be much better than last night. I think this game will be closer than people think. Kahuku always plays St. Louis tough. Should be a good game also if Kahuku can find an offensive rhythm.

  18. Lou November 3, 2018 9:22 pm

Since Kahuku is short on dbs, can Wily and Latu of Stl. play for Kahuku? Since St.John (#3) in USA is season pau, heard So l Jay transferring back for his senior year. Sauvao will be tight end.

  19. notes November 4, 2018 7:30 am

Dont worry about Robert Victor he is doing his best at referee. You need to worry about Michael Goshima, the guy that no ref all season and then all of a sudden show up in the state tourney in STL games. He a STL alum and is caught on camera congratulating STL players after every TD they score. when he running along the kahuku sidelines he fake rub his eye with his middle finger intentionally commiting the act of stick middle finger to kahuku. Then after the game he jump on the bus with the STL team and celebrate with beer and strippers because every one on the bus is 21 yrs old and up.

  20. MAKE IT HAPPEN COACH CAL LEE, NOT!!! November 4, 2018 9:19 am

    @ST.LouAcademyVsSt.BoscoAcademyYesPlease
Real talk. Bosco wanted to play St Louis. Bosco also offered to pay for some of their travel expenses. St. Louis wanted no part of that, so Mililani stepped up and took that challenge. That’s why next year Bosco is coming down here to play Mililani at home. Mililani may lose a game or 2, but they are down to play anyone. They dont play it safe like St. Louis. So yes Cal Lee grow some confidence in your team and grow a pair of balls and challenge top teams in the nation and not no Narbonne. Narbonne is like D2 State Champs. MAKE IT HAPPEN COACH CAL LEE, NOT!!!!

  21. notes November 4, 2018 10:53 am

Stl have a travel ban and cannot go mainland bcuz last time they went vegas in 2000 they hired strippers and alcohol.

St john bosco is coming to play central oahu next year, Gabriel is from wahiawa and will be graduating, will be interesting to see who York recruits at QB for next year, maybe the campbell QB who is a promising freshman.

  22. P Parent November 4, 2018 1:44 pm

Aiea, once a formidable opponent with Halawz housing kids, now cellar and lower division because of predatory recruiters. Waipahu having their Iosepa kids playing for Milz. Kalihi bumbulla linemen, playing for Milz. Mililani marching band, all neighborhood kids, No recruit. Cheerleaders, all small neighborhood girls, No more recruits from housing. How can the DOE allow multiple district exemptions? And most exempts are because their is an exceptional STEM program or math program at that school. Does “exceptional football program” qualify? How many exempts should each public school have without having budgetary difficulties? Isn’t the DOE having funding problems? Shouldn’t a kid live at least 5 miles from the target school instead of 20 plus miles? Isn’t this all Public funding?

  23. Robocop November 4, 2018 3:58 pm

By the way let’s completely ignore the fact that Cal Lee was trying to get Bishop Gorman to come and play. But hey he’s afraid of competition so he keeps picking on local teams. You know the ones that don’t have to get on a damn plane to play?

  24. Hammer November 4, 2018 6:07 pm

Coach cal never turn down a game all you scrubs stop lying bishop Gorman back down from playing st louis instead of rooting for every hawaii team when they play against mainland teams you cry babies is jealous of st louis you to loose for me any team plays a mainland teams I am for the hawaii teams every time that’s how it’s should be now everyone root for there team true out the season but at the end of the day I want to see every local players get to the next level

  25. P Parent November 4, 2018 6:11 pm

Once again the RR is in State Championship bracket. Lol. Hey 4 teams, 0-0 records,New mini season. You win 2, your champs. Good luck to all teams. Play with dignity. Like Cal Lee said “be humble”.

  26. FBF... November 4, 2018 7:15 pm

So sad ….. Negative comments about coach Cal Lee , he and his staff has done so much for HS Football helping kids from all schools on and off the field ! Coach Cal is one of the biggest reason why football is played at such a high level .

  27. Trustno1 November 4, 2018 7:20 pm

Bunch of crybabies on here! Recruiting happens! So what! Kids and parents have their own reasons! Maybe they want to play for better coaches that will help them get a scholarship. Mayb a kid is a receiver but his homeschool only runs the ball or vice versa! At the end of the day it’s about the kids! Good luck to everybody in the playoffs! 808vsEverybody!

  28. Dafun November 4, 2018 9:29 pm

I wanna see the proof of recruiting. Everyone can say anything but wheres the proof. Oh right, there is none. You can all just say stuff on here but not prove it. Where’s the interviews Questioning cal about recruiting?? Don’t see it. Where’s the papers saying this student gets this for coming to STL?? RIGHT, THERE IS NONE! I am a former player of st Louis and all you guys are just haters because your school lost so good for you crybabies.

  29. Auwe November 5, 2018 3:59 am

They say defense wins championships! St. Louis is without a doubt the best defense in the state this year! Probably one of the top in the country! Not sure when was the last time their Defense has outshined their Offense ? Not sure why all the negative comments about cal? You can have all the best kids but if you cannot coach them then that’s a waste! As for all the recruiting comments! C’mon give it a rest already! This only high school football! Just a starting block to continue the their Education! Nothing more and nothing less! If a kid can get a better shot at continuing their education somewhere besides where they live then good for them! What parent wouldn’t send their kids elsewhere to give their kids a better chance! Just hope Big red can put up a good fight! Offense gonna have to find a way to give the defense some rest… Good luck to all!!! Go big Red!!!

  30. Izzz statue!!! November 5, 2018 8:11 am

    St louis academy
St Louis would lose to St. John bosco. Too much speed on that offense.. St. Louis LB and DB going get exposed from that man 2 man Defense they love… and as for St. Louis offense it one dimensional pass happy machine not going put up more than 21 points on that braves D… 5 star talent all over that field. IMG would also smash St. LOUIS. wouldnt be close

  31. Dafun November 5, 2018 1:15 pm

Why are we talking about st John Bosco or img?? This has nothing to do with the state championship now. Thanks for bringing up something irrelevant

  32. FBF... November 5, 2018 5:01 pm

St.Louis would not get smashed from Bosco or IMG , would be great games ! They don’t play that man 2 man D all that much not sure what your watching ? One dimensional they run the ball so much from the start of the season . Last game rushed for over 200 yards 1 running back ran for over 100 with the QB draws , trap , Sprint draws they are much more balanced . An opinion is fine but unfortunately it didnt sound like one , why not support our local teams and stop bashing them . Great games this week wishing all teams good luck .

  33. Hammer November 5, 2018 11:58 pm

This for the person talking about st Louis playing st john bosco and would get smash let take a step back mililani scored 21 points on bosco punahou smash mililani in there backyard and st louis destroyed punahou so you look at that which is facts st louis would be right there blow for blow close game you need get over fact that st louis is good and you claim to be a local person you should be rooting for any and every hawaii team that plays a mainland teams

  34. Charles Amai November 6, 2018 1:37 pm

    Awesome setup.

Kalaepohaku wants Mill in the final for the undisputed title. GO LOU!

  35. Ugly Olos November 6, 2018 3:09 pm

Yes Sir Hammer & Charlie you tell em! STL gonna bring it against the Trojans…after taking down the RR train.

  36. Izzz statue!!! November 6, 2018 11:38 pm

FBF speed kills. St.John Bosco and IMG has speed on the Dline LBs and DBs. STL QB going be running away from pressure, just like how he he was when Miki Ah You waa chasing him b4 he got injured. As for St. Louis Defense they feast on Hawaii schools because theres no Elite 5 Star Athlete who play QB,RB or WR. Just click on youtube and watch highlights of the Athletes St John Bosco and IMG have clearly a notch above the opponents St.Louis played
