According to the latest Honolulu Star-Advertiser Softball Top 10 released Monday, an ILH vs. OIA West softball classic would be quite a big deal.

The top eight teams in the rankings belong in either league with the OIA West holding down the top two spots. Defending state champion Campbell is no longer the top-ranked team after losing 2-1 last Tuesday to new-No. 1 Pearl City, which is the only undefeated team in the OIA West left heading into this week’s games.

The Sabers dropped just one spot to No. 2 and are followed by a trio of ILH teams. There seems to be some confusion as to the top team in the ILH with Kamehameha earning the No. 3 spot, followed by Maryknoll and Punahou. ‘Iolani, which was ranked No. 3 last week, dropped all the way to seventh after losing 13-8 to Division II St. Francis, which earned votes this week.

Mililani, which lost a tough game against the Sabers on Saturday, dropped to No. 6 and Leilehua is No. 8. The only teams outside of the ILH and OIA West to crack the top 10 are Lahainaluna of the MIL at No. 9 and Moanalua at No. 10.

Na Menehune is tied with Kaiser at the top of the OIA East at 4-0-1 after the two teams played to a 6-6 tie a couple of weeks ago. The next meeting between the two schools is March 30 at Kaiser.
