The usual suspects won the West.

Zack Diamond, Tristan Ludiazo and Liam Corbett all won their brackets at the OIA Western Division championships, with Diamond and Corbett winning easily and Ludiazo executing his regular clutch performance.

Diamond beat Waianae’s Sheldon Bailey 15-4 in his final and Corbett shut out Mililani’s Marquis Dominique 9-0 in his. Ludiazo beat Radford’s John Patrick 6-4.

Josh Gallarde of Campbell probably won the toughest bracket, beating Mililani’s Isaac Diamond, Pearl City’s Makoa Cooper and Aaron Nakama of Kapolei to take the 135-pound bracket.

What happened to Kapolei? I know they had some guys out, but they ended up in 4th place. Santos and Gallarde had the most surprising scores. Bayleen Cooper had the most surprising finish.

Makoa Cooper looks tough and ready. Just needs another year to put it all together.

Kapolei was missing probable champions at 126, 195, and starters at 145, 152, 160.
