‘Iolani had never won an Interscholastic League of Honolulu championship in cheerleading until this year.

Now, the Raiders will try to take the next step, when they compete in the Zippy’s State Cheerleading Championships on Saturday against other teams from around the state on Saturday at noon at Blaisdell Arena.

A total of 17 teams are vying for either the large- or the medium-division championships.

‘Iolani will be taking part in the small-division.

Among the other top squads competing at the states are ILH runner-up Kamehehameha, ILH third-place Pac-Five, Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Moanalua, OIA runner-up Radford and OIA third-place Kaiser.
