Warriors, Buffanblu going to five

By Jerry Campany on November 1, 2013

Just as it was meant to be, Punahou and Kamehameha are going to a fifth set. The ILH rivals will play for the fifth time this season on Friday, but only the winner will be crowned state champion. The Warriors have won three of the four matchups after dominating the first two. But as they knew when they both started this conquest, it always comes down to the last game. Kamehameha swept Moanalua and Punahou obliterated Mililani in the semifinals […]

Oahu’s top VB seeds to show their stuff

By Jerry Campany on October 25, 2013

Before getting down to the serious business of competing for a state championship, Oahu’s premier volleyball teams will take some time out to have a little fun. ILH champion Kamehameha and OIA Champion Mililani will be at St. Francis on Saturday, competing in the fourth edition of Bump, Set and Spike for the Cure to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It may be a little difficult to tell who the players are even with a program, as Alohi […]

Kamehameha gets top seed in state tournament

By Jerry Campany on October 24, 2013

It’s not how many you lose, when you lose them is way more important. Kahuku, which looked like the class of the OIA East all season and rose as high as No. 2 in the Star-Advertiser’s top 10 poll, drew a particularly tough draw in the Division I girls volleyball state tournament beginning Tuesday on the Big Island. The Red Raiders, who lost successive matches to Mililani and Moanalua in the OIA tournament this week, fell to third in the […]
