In my opinion, Kamalu is the best player in the state. In my opinion, she isn’t used correctly to take advantage of her vast set of skills. She is arguably the most versatile and talented player in the state.

They played two BIIF games with five players and their “feeder” program you talk about rarely has eight kids on all age group levels. Lets call it what it is, a good program and a system that works. I agree with the announcers last night, everyone thought they would fall off after Chanelle graduated. I actually think they’ll be tough next year and the years to follow. I love to read the comments after these games, everyone has an excuse after they lose. Maryknoll is a stacked deep team and will be awesome next year, so will Konawaena.

Bad shot selection. Didn’t know how to use mismatches. Poor defensive game plan. All that talent and once again nothing to show for it. THe recruiting monster goes down again. Well they got 1 year left with their junior heavy team.

Congratulations to Konawaena. And please Mr. Author, please stop with the “they are a small school and blah blah blah.” They are a basketball factory. The kids grow up wanting to play for Kona. Their feeder program that most schools on Oahu don’t have is amazing. They play together for years which build chemistry and they grow faster. There is a HUGE advantage that Kona and Lahaina have that the Oahu schools do not.

Kamehameha Inter struggled to get 13 girls (half of them never smelt a bball). Punahou has like 11 kids on their inter. Several of them never or rarely played before. Punahou didn’t have a inter or jv summer team due to lack of interest. Kaiser couldn’t field a JV team. Roosevelt, the perennial powerhouse in the OIA had a JV team where in years passed probably more than 3/4 of the girls who made the team would have gotten cut.

Girls basketball is at an all time low here. Can someone say Jill Nunakawa is the reason why.

This is not girls soccer or volleyball. The interest for girls basketball is at an all time low.
