Saw only one night of the Iolani Classic. Despite it being on the night of a Maryknoll loss, I think Rhianne Omori was the best player in the tournament. Quick and tough, she ranks right up there with Cherilyn Molina and the two Lahainaluna guards (counted as one for comparison purposes). Get there early for this week’s Kamehameha VS Maryknoll – it will be a sellout.

I get that the mainland girls get the all tourney team. But Wahinekapu scored the most points of any Hawaii player in the tourney by far and wasn’t selected. Okamura was also solid and never got picked. Instead a couple players with sub par tourneys got picked. I seen all da games and those two along with Omori and Kamalu really stood out. It’s like a popularity vote I think.

Over 3 Games in the Iolani Classic

Iolani:
Lily Wahinekapu – 52 points
Kellie Okamura – 35 points
Tori Maeda – 22 points

Maryknoll:
Kamalu Kamakawiwoole – 31 points
Rhianne Omori – 43 points
Bella Cravens – 28 points
