It’s just terrible how some people try to help players out to go to college with some of these garbage honors. The truth is that only maybe 5 girls in the entire OIA will play at the D1 level. The rest will probably play at very small schools. Prime example, Maryknoll the previous three years had the so called best team in the state but they only had two D1 players and that was a great team. So someone please tell me how you win and go 14-0 and not one player makes one of the OIA teams? I call BS!!!!!!!!!!!

FIRST TEAM
Taeya Blakeney, Kaiser
Kaelyn Espinda, Kaimuki
Kalena Halunajan, Kalani
Kamalu Kamakawiwoole, Kalani
Leiah Naeata, Kahuku

SECOND TEAM
Trinidee Kahunahana, Kaiser
Colby Lane, McKinley
Sadie Ann Luiz, Roosevelt
Raven Rosa-Lasco, Moanalua
Dionna Woodson, Moanalua

THIRD TEAM
Alayna Akiona, Kalani
Briarra Nakihei, Castle
Setita Prescott, Farrington
Taylor Tateyama, Roosevelt
Shayla Young, Castle

There are at least two on the second team that should be there and another two on the third.

Naeata needs a running mate in that back court. Claytor kept Kahuku in a lot of games with her 3pt shooting.

Some better than others but I’m sure they gave it their ALL. However that doesn’t guarantee another good season next year. Hard work, tough competition during the off season plus good coaching and supportive teammates will definitely contribute to their success next year. Good luck to ALL these young women next year. Can’t wait to watch them play.

She can’t even crack the starting lineup. Akaka’s are solid.

She has handles, all she’s going to need is the CONFIDENCE.

Akiona only played in 17 of Kalani 31 games and drained 32 3 pointers. Then we have Maryknoll super soph’s vs Iolani super soph’s. It’s going to be fun.

Lead the team in 3 pointers and blocks. May also be one of the islands best pure shooters. Check the stats. Only in the 10th grade also.
