I’m quite sure that most of our readers seek information regarding the COVID-19 impact on Hawaii’s economics and public health elsewhere. This is a prep sports site focusing on Hawaii’s keiki and teams. I’m open to your agenda, whatever it may be. Thank you for caring about Lanai. Mayor Victorino’s request for a stay-at-home order on Lanai was approved by the state and is in effect as of today.

For this article it isn’t even necessary to mention that Lanai opened for tourism because it had nothing to do with this at all. Lanai covid cases are community spread precluded by travel by someone within that community. Yes you are “writing facts surrounding this topic,” just not all the facts. Good bye!

There is no agenda. Lanai opened to tourism last week and there are 65 cases (or more) now.

When it goes down to zero, it will be zero. I’m not seeking “credibility,” brother. I’m writing facts surrounding this topic, and how it affects high school sports. The state is doing what it can to balance re-opening and public health.

Your diatribe about one detail in a post featuring coaches’ feedback from Oahu and Maui is quite interesting. I have an agenda? Nope. Do you have an agenda?

Clearly, yes. But I welcome discussion, so have at it.

It wouldn’t take much effort on your part to also state what has been reported, and that is they believe the cases are linked to travel. If you only write about some of the facts and not all that is reported then I consider it reckless. If I wrote the same thing that is fine, because that is my opinion. But as a journalist you should be reporting all the facts, not some or what your opinion is. Yes, “record daily numbers are spreading across the mainland.” But why wouldn’t you also state the fact that hospitalizations and deaths have declined significantly across all age groups, including the elderly and those with underlying conditions. These are also facts and would give your reader some perspective. Good journalist report all the facts with no agenda and let the reader come up with their own opinions. This is not a personal indictment, you seem like a really nice guy, just a suggestion to get the most credibility.

That would be your interpretation of facts. The state reopened to tourism and one week later, Lanai has 65 cases. Take it for what it is. Time will tell.

Please give us your source if that is the case because I haven’t seen that reported anywhere else. Otherwise this is very poor and reckless journalism. Not surprised though!
