RR4Eva is right about the distinction between the player(s) grade and age but its not just some of the players at STL or the ILH that often hype a player’s grade like the “Freshman Phenom” that’s almost 16 or one of STL 8th grade QB who’s 15, but Campbell’s freshman QB is already 16 and so are a lot of OIA players. Gabriel was held back a year and Sol Jai former RR was a 17 year old Sophomore so the hype combined with fake youth is misleading and it does matter: 1) the player is older while playing HS ball and gets more notoriety but has likely peaked athletically that’s why many held back players are busts in college; 2) players who are not held back 1 or 2 years are not as physically or mentally matured but get penalized for playing by the rules. Its becoming rare to see a great athlete who graduates from from HS at 17 or just turned 18. If a player turns 19 before the first semester of college ends he was held back. If he turns 19 during the first semester of his senior year in HS, that’s disgraceful.

@HLI does HLI stand for Honorably Losing Integrity or was that backwards for ILH! Anywho, lets put this into perspective! 1. No one is Bellyaching 2. We simply clarifying the integrity of the classification of “Sophomore”. 3. Out of curiosity if age doesnt matter why does schools like The Great St Louis have a undeniable need to have older football boys in lower grades? If age doesnt matter why are those “Student” athletes assigned to the right grade for the right age. 4. At the end of the day that wont change. That will continue to go on for ILH schools. The struggle for 14 yr olds to be called freshmans and 16yr olds to be called Juniors. But it is what it is! 5. No one is complaining. It is the rule and ILH does comply. We give you that. But agaim answer me this! Why hold all your Studd Ballers back a grade???

In HS age does matter! A 19y/o will dominate a 15y/o where as a 21 y/o in college will easily keep up with a 24y/o BYU Red shirt 3 times player!

@bigfacts hoooo slow down Palala! Nobody downing the kid. Pull da emergency break! I take it that asking the age of St Louis kids is a touchy subject. But lets touch on a few areas LOL! 1. This isnt college 2. Yes age matters in High School 3. If age never mattered why does HS have JV separate from Varsiety? 4. Sometimes people hype the grade as if they one young hammah playing with older boys. When in reality they realy the same age. 5. If age doesnt matter why dont we just say a QB from St. Louis instead putting an emphasis on a "Soph QB"? 6. If age doesn't matter how come all the studds for St Louis for the pats decade was held back a grade? If age doesnt matter how come if they 16 going on 17 they not in the 11th orn12th grade? Nothing against the kid at all. Or any kid. But dont hype a grade up as if they one young kid advanced beyond all sophmores. No they 16 and 17 yr olds that are more advance than other Sophomores. We all want to see him or any kid from Hawaii succeed. Thats no question. Just dont hype the grade. Call it by the age. So it can be like this-" St louis 19 year old Juniors leading the Crusaders to another State title" ! RRFL! LOL!

@redraiders4eva you wonder over age, but does age matter in college? isnt that the goal for most kids who play sports to get to college? and missionaries start college at a later age just to throw it out there lol

also who cares what high schools these kids play for, we should just want the best for any hawaii kid no matter what school or island theyre from to do their best and represent their family and hawaii to the fullest

also if you one of those who talk about recruiting, are you a parent thats mad because your kid isnt getting recruited cmon folks recruited or not kids still got to work hard to get to the next level, kids at small schools still get div 1 offers they dont complain

all in all it aint the school that makes you, it starts with the player and the work they put in to their game
