Each kid and their parents have their own reasons for being there at Saint Louis. I cannot speak for them. For me, my son was a benchwarmer. I know he’s good enough to start somewhere else. But he started at Saint Louis from seventh grade. His first football game ever was in the intermediate. He had to catch up to the rest of the kids that have played from a younger age. He hardly played in his first year but he developed well and started the following year. He played one year in JV then took last year off to focus on his golf then decided to play football his senior year and ended up being a benchwarmer. He was fine with it. I wasn’t but it wasn’t my decision to make. As a matter of fact I told him, if it was me, I would’ve quit after two or three games of not playing lol. He told me, this is my school and I enjoy being with my team mates and the brotherhood. I give him credit for that. As a parent, that spoke volume of his character than anything else. I’m proud of his perseverance and the pride he has for his school. To me sports is a great vehicle but it’s not everything. My sons primary sport is golf but it is secondary to education. He is 17 and graduating this May.
As I said each parent have their own reasons for having their kid their. Whether they are football stars or not.

He must paint his fingernails red too lol. Kahuku is good , dont get me wrong, but they not that good. You expect them to win everygame and win every championship lol. You forget where you come from. Saint Louis is still the rulers of state championships and kahuku is not even close to accomplishing that yet lol. Go back under the bed with your red shirt and bring a dry towel for those tears.

I know that sometimes its about just being a part of something, in this case, a 3peat state champion.

But as a parent, what do you do when you know you kid is good but just not good enough to start at st. louis?

Benchwarmer State Champ or Starter contributor at another school?

No matter what school you from it should not matter. These young men played their hearts out winning or losing. Many kids get college opportunities from schools like St. Louis, Kahuku, Punahou, Miliani and so on. We should be grateful that OUR local kids have this opportunity. So many other kids get this opportunity because of the players who came before them. Today, we got kids at Alabama, LSU, UCF, Washington, Oregon, Stanford, Notre Dame and the list goes on. It wasn’t like this 20 years ago. All of these schools put OUR kids on the map. So stop being immature adults and be grateful for the opportunities OUR local kids are getting. Great job St. Louis on the 3 peat and bringing national attention for other great players from OUR great state!

You should be very proud of yourself.
