Its hard to compete and say no to the top football/basketball programs/sports/band, music, art etc.
Its called the “Alabama Dilemma” parents want to send their kids where they think the kid will be successful.

I can see leaving your district to go to a private school but leaving for another public school??
Back in the days, kids had pride for their community and looked forward to playing for their HS.
The same school that their parents, uncles, cousins, siblings and even grandparents attended.

How you going claim Kalihi or Waianae if you playing for Millilani??
Win or lose we still play for the home team.

Thats just so disheartening.
And, its not the kids, its the parents.

Go play club after the season or pylon with another team but in season is for the home team.

The best raw talent and size from those two districts gets recruited to the ILH (or Campbell/Mililani/Kapolei). What remains at Farrington and Waianae is a lot of second tier talent, which is still better than most public schools but definitely not enough to compete with the first tier talent of other Open Division teams.

What is holding these two schools back from being more successful?
They have so much raw talent.

I guess we will see how Mckinley does to determine if coaching really does makes the difference. With a little sprinkling of recruiting? Perhaps.
