No STL couldn’t stay healthy playing a Florida schedule on a weekly basis they’re not big enough to handle our physical smash mouth style of football on a weekly basis. They would have to change the way they do there strength and conditioning program. And the offensive style they play you’re not going to win 10 games straight in Florida without a lack of a running game. Good luck.

All you guys have made truthful honest points about STL and I agree. But here’s my point Florida have about 15 teams that will beat STA on any giving night. We don’t make up excuses about players that got injured or ineligible. Bcuz STA didn’t have all there playmakers available either. So that’s football. It’s all about next man up and going out and executing and kicking there butt here in Florida. STL can’t handle smash mouth football for 4quarters against the Florida big dawgs. And the injuries will pile up if they play a Florida schedule. They’re to slow and to small and can’t handle the physicality. They will get banged up.

Mililani & Campbell became competitive by bringing in kids from other schools; that’s what it takes to be competitive in the Open. In the meantime Waianae, Farrington & Kapolei struggling to stay afloat.
I really think ALL Open teams should be able to recruit kids “LEGALLY” that is the only way to a LEVEL playing field.
This is the reason St John Bosco, Mater Dei & De La Salle are Always in the TOP 5 in California.

Ive seen the best football in the past 2 years of this pilot than the previous 10.

The D1 and D2 matchups have been competitive and exciting to watch.
With the exception of Lulu, the OPEN has produced some of the best football to watch in years.
Creating new and reviving old rivalries have been entertaining and brings back fond memories. I think we wait a little bit and let this develop, I am sure that the rest of the teams will begin to catch up to Lulu.

Prep Bowl is fine.
STL is on a another level and 99.9% of Hawaii coaches agree. They should compete on a National level..

IMHO: Break down OIA like they did when it was Red, White, Blue. Let coaches/AD decide if they want to go up or down. OIA coaches never know what type or how many kids they are getting year to year? One year they might have 50 & next year 25 like Kaimuki, whereas STL will never have less than 80 players. The main reason Damien, Iolani & Pac-5 Wanted to forfeit games Knowing they had ZERO chance against STL.
The same reason Kalani should NEVER be in the same division as Kahuku, Waianae, Mililani etc.

Are you a proponent for the old format?
ILH and OIA only meet in pre-season and State Tournament?

Or none at all?

Reading your story I was ready to say finally, a humble STL alumni talking about his streak & how it ended.
But to NO one’s surprise you bring up STL
(Big Dog Recruiters) smashing an OIA Farrington team with only Kalihi kids.
When will you guys ADMIT there is a HUGE advantage between STL/PUN Recruiting stud kids compared to OIA district kids? Of course you SHOULD win every year, it’s NO surprise!
This is the MAIN reason why 90% of the State cheered when St Thomas Beat you guys in Vegas. We DON’T cheer against the Keiki; we cheer against Your COCKINESS. “JUST FACTS”

I am a “transplant” but been living here for a number of years. First off, whether they go to STL or an OIA school, they are till rooted in Hawaii so stop hatin’ on them. Second, their parents choose to send them to STL because they see something there that will better their son. STL doesn’t go knocking on doors asking for their son to play football for their school. Just be proud of boys from Hawaii no matter where they decided to get their education.

They competed all night. I was at the game and yes, obviously the turnovers killed us. The defense was on the field the whole second half and finally wore down to a huge offensive line with stud RBs. I was on the team that won 55 In a row and lost # 56 to canyon 0-40 if my memory serves me right. Still beat a talented Farrington team by 30 in the prep bowl. My point is no streaks last forever….learn from it and come back stronger…Kaleapohaku4Life.
