Donna Lindsey, What say ye? May we hear from you as you represent the Pride of the North Shore as our principal? The energy in past principals all the way down to Carlton E. Weimer in the 1950’s have stood tall and proud for the Kahuku Red Raiders and actually helped to create the name to boost the pride of our little plantation town spanning 22+ miles along the North Shore. Have you called a meeting with students? Parents? Community Members? or defended our name in any way? Hasn’t the community been there for you 100% through all your years as principal? Yet, no student, parent, community involvement in a decision as big as this? 3 “key” people have been represented. Can those hundreds and thousands that have supported you and brought home championships and turned out in full force at ALL our games, count on you to represent them or at least give us a good fight? What say ye Donna Lindsey?

@Raida Haydah You should just spell it correctly Raider Hater. Fake news eh? Anyone want to see it search when the jerseys were donated every source shows 1950. Go look at Honolulu Star bulletin 1947 rural all star team. In the article “The Kahuku Red Raiders, coached by” this was in 1947. Also, 1946 KHS Yearbook “Mules of Leilehua and the Red Raiders of Kahuku” and further down “the Red and Whites” hmm. There’s two sources. Please provide any proof the jerseys had anything to do with the name. As for those who are really interested and not a hater, Back then the Doolittle Raiders were very popular as well as the “Marine Raiders”. RH, Don’t forget to put on your red nose and big shoes when you get dressed.

For those that are not part of RR on facebook. Now that there is evidence (actual pics for articles from the 40’s) that we were called Red and White and Red Raiders years before Iolani ever donated jerseys and that it actually came from our Principle at the time Mr Weimer inspired by the WWII “Raiders” that stormed the beaches and gave their lives for our freedom, I guess we can put this to bed. Kainoa, go ahead and cancel your change.org request. Because this can only continue if there is another agenda in play and not as the original petition stated. As for Ms. Harjo, how dare you denigrate our culture. You don’t like our images? Go ahead and complain about the tikis. I’m sure you just made up what you said to make things sound bad. No way any rational thinking person would ever attack the Menehune drawing or the Poly warrior. But you of course live in some state of heightened enlightenment and can tell us what is and isn’t appropriate. Please keep you nose on the mainland and stay out of our affairs. This is a RR community thing and you have no business here. As a matter of fact, feel free to stay out of every tribe that you are not a part of. I’m sure you want the Utah mascot changed to, regardless that the Ute nation fully approves and condones it and relies upon it (and is outraged that a change is being considered). But what does that matter, you are smarter than all them. And if it costs them too bad. At least you get to put another notch in your gun of self importance.

@IloveHawaii- I think that’s part of the problem. Nobody talks about the water polo team or basketball team or even the State Champion Speech & debate team. They are all RedRaiders too. Everything seems to be just centered around the football team.
