Put them up with them and they sink like they always have.

Damien will prove that in the upcoming game. Don’t know why year after year they always seem to be in the top ten.

Not whining, I just don’t understand the inconsistency between divisions and leagues. That is how I see it. I would just like to see changes over the summer to build more consistency built into the system, that is for this inter league to continue (which I think is good for Hawai’i football).

The ILH has its own tie-breaker rules and OIA has its own separate and different tie-breaker rules. These are set before the season and the coaches know about it. This is why you don’t hear whining from the coaches themselves. They all know the situation before the season starts.

The HHSAA is separate from the ILH and OIA and the HHSAA has nothing to do with how the leagues determine the tie-breakers. The HHSAA sets the numbers on how many teams from each league can participate in state tournaments. The leagues then have their own tie-breakers to determine how to fill those spots in the state tournaments.

Don’t base it on records, but strong competition week after week. Open is considered one of the top divisions in the nation.
Yes, I know Govs lost to the Mules early in the year when they were trying to pass the ball and missing a lot of players. But they went back to what they know best and did way better.
Check out Kamehameha’s tough game against Campbell and early season game against a rugged Kahuku team.
Kapolei’s battle with Mililani and domination vs Kamehameha.
Waianae offense vs St. Louis and Campbell scored over 26 point against both teams.
All these none open teams ranked would get spanked.
St. Louis, Punahou tops in the state.
Hats off to these OIA open teams playing this brutal schedule (loaded with D1 recruits) and trying to stay heathy throughout the season week after week.

So, if the regular season game was not the tie breaker game, why can’t Waialua and Nanakuli in DII have a playoff? They both ended with the same record even though Waialua won the season matchup. This for the final spot in the OIA. I guess I don’t understand all the rules that HHSAA has for all of these division and and leagues.

Hilo-Leilehua-Moanalua-Damien are at a similar level, but they should be below the two Open teams.

As for Hilo moving to the Open, they would do very bad because Hilo has been undersized for the past 100 years and undermanned for the past 40. Heck they’re even undersized vs. Kealakehe in the trenches. Good coaching and discipline is what’s keeping them relevant in D-I, but they’re not gonna be able to keep a roster playing against the massive rosters of the Open.

It is a ILH playoff to determine the one and only ILH representative to HHSAA D1 states. Damien and Iolani finished with tied records and the tie-breaker that was set before the season was a one-game playoff and not head-to-head results. I like it.

Still believe Kona and the rest of BIIF D1 is better slated for D2 and would match up nicely against Lahainaluna and Kapaa, but Kona only moved up because they didn’t want to wipe the floor with the former 8 mans all of whom should have stayed 8 man.
