Ranked teams 7-10 don’t belong in the top ten.
Kamehameha loss close games to Punahou 15-5 and Kahuku 21-13. Go figure.

Oh and there’s Waianae in the Open who’s only win is a close win against a Waipahu team that is just doing okay in their Division. And again loss to Farrington who loss to Leilehua. So I personally think these teams not in the Open Division may be ranked appropriately. It’s not any knock on these teams or anything, but I think despite divisions this list is accurate for the most part. Go Mules!

I think the argument for most or all of the Open Division teams being in the top ten could have been legit theoretically, but there’s an outlier: My team Leilehua! ;) The bottom teams in the Open Division aren’t doing that great. Kapolei, Kamehameha, and Farrington in particular have traded wins and losses between each other and have loss against every other Hawaii team. But Leilehua played Farrington to start the season and won 35-0. I know it’s the beginning of the season and Farrington maybe was trying to start their engine, but being blanked by a Division 1 team and getting 35 scored on them says a lot. Moanalua is the only team that beat Leilehua so they are ranked above. Leilehua has a close win against a good Damien team who’s only other loss was to Iolani who both are also on the top ten. Leilehua was the only team of these teams to play an Open Division team this year and they won by a good margin. That’s why this ranking may make sense. I’m not sure about Hilo because you can’t compare them to other great teams they haven’t played, but Hilo is destroying all their teams they have played, so maybe they earn that ranking. We will see because hopefully they can play against D-1 O’ahu teams soon in the playoffs Go Mules!

There are DII teams that could demolish the lower tier DI teams and there are possibly three teams in DI that could beat the lower tier Open teams or at the very least give them a good game. Rankings are a feel good thing and has no affect on how teams would match up against each other.

Bottom line is there’s teams in DII that could demolish teams in DI, and there’s a couple teams in DI that could beat the bottom teams in Open. No point in trying to figure out rankings, all that matters is the last game and who comes out on top.
