Nice article, good team work ethic, excellent commentary on the high level of QB play by Gabriel. York gives kudos QB coaches in Joel Lane, Nolan Tokuda and June Jones. I place Brian Ah Yat in that classification too. They’ve made a big difference on the level of QB play around the island and the significance of film study is evident in Gabriel’s ascent.

Thought this article was about Mililani Trojans and Coach Rod York but we talking about St. Louis and it’s recruiting. First of all Vartic and Nichols were horrible. Iosefa and Slade were legit. Again St Louis has to recruit! It is what it is! Btw the ILH is getting screwed because Punahou and St. Louis are two out of the best three teams in the state and one of them is going home. Let’s move on because the OIA has closed the gap on the ILH and it’s only going to get harder for the ILH to win it every year! Lots of kids are staying in their hometown and playing for their home team. Anyways back to this article, Coach York sounds confused with some of the questions. Answers doesnt match with what HPW was asking him. I remember that game against Kapolei and June Jones. Mililani Defense which is a zone playing defense, basically played man all nite. He didn’t have a shut down corner like Kahuku had. Coach York was right about getting blown out. Seems like he changed the game plan before kickoff. It didn’t help when the offense was shut down by Kapolei defense. So Coach York who is the OC/DC got out coached that nite by June Jones and Hernandez and Taulia. ( Kapolei had studs that year on both sides)
Another week of HighSchool football is coming Kahuku/Mililani, St Louis/Campbell, Kam/Punahou. All good games! 808vsEverybody

Anywho’s..Congrats to Gabrial at breaking the record and York for creating the best passing offense in the OIA and with a better oline could be the best O in the State. D still need work though.

STL went down hill because the previous coaches had morals and decided to only coach the players that showed up to try outs.

Cal came back and brought the talent from wide and far..

STL needs football more then Football needs STL, dass why they will cross all kind of ethical lines to get what they need to save their jobs.

…Football hype was dead, enrollment was going down, no can travel mainland…so STL needed Cal and his aggresive recruiting tactics to come back, Why? because TALENT = TITLES. Then they needed this league merger to help boost their kaya 3 team schedule. Das why I say they no can stay in their own lane so they bully the OIA to save their butts.

What really takes the whole damn cake as if the OIA doing the ILH a favor to merge wasnt enough…Braddah Cal says in the paper after the first week of this season “If the ILH have to count their games against the OIA then the OIA should have to do the same”

Compliance by the majority to meet the demands of the elite.
