96730, you say “St Louis ‘evolved into a national powerhouse”? “evolved”? What they did was recruit excessively to the point that they totally destroyed the competitive balance of Hawaii state high school football. I lived through that once before the first time Cal Lee was at St Lulu. I was at every Prep Bowl game from 1976 to 1995. No excitement before the game. You knew St Lulu was going to blow out whoever they played. Like going to a funeral.

The OIA is finally giving up. For a while they could compete and pulled off a lot of state titles, but STL has evolved into such a national powerhouse it’s barely competitive and merely impossible for a public school to overcome such a gap with limited resources.
Breaking away from the ILH will make the OIA better again as kids are more likely to stay home and play ball for home town teams….or drive to Mililani and Campbell. Lol.

Heard the OIA-ILH alliance may not continue after this year…so if this is true, they can figure out “bowl games” for next year and ILH can scramble for some regular season games next year too.
