I remember when St.Louis played the Nationally Rank, No#1 Del La Salle and lost by 10 points…
This occurred in 2001. Kahuku lost to Cal poly the Nationally Rank, No#2 by 28

That goes to show, Hawaii boys can play…

Mater Dei & St. John Bosco would destroy St. Louis. It wouldn’t even be close. They’d have their back ups in by the middle of the third. Both teams have more than 20 players with D1 offers. Mater Dei has nine 4 & 5 star players alone. Heck, they have a back up 4 star DB with an offer from Alabama. Another back up 4 star DB just transferred too.

The next level of CA teams in De La Salle, Folsom, Mission Viejo and Cen10 would beat St Louis by 3-4 TDs. As they all play in two state bowl tiers higher than Narbonne, except Folsom who is one tier above St. Louis.

St Louis is playing right at their level. Against a good CA team, the best of the weak LA City Section. But, far from the best in CA.

Narbonne isn’t the champs of CA’s 2nd tier. They’re the 3rd tier champs. It goes Open, 1-AA, 1-A. Folsom is the 2nd tier champ.

There’s a sizable gap between the Open and 1-A. Both finalists in the 1-A State Title Game got a running clock (down 35 points in the 4th) put on them by Corona Centennial in the regular season. Cen10 got blown out in the Southern Section D1 semis by D1 finals loser, St. John Bosco. The winner of SS D1 gets the So Cal bid for the Open Title Game.

@76south The only time these National ranked teams met N#5 Mater Dei and n#3 Narbonne played was in 2012 Narbonne beat them 18-17 that nationally ranked game in preseason. Bruce Rollinson said. Narbonne team speed was way to fast for Mater Dei in 2012.
That same year 2012 in the State open Regional on to see who was going to play De La Salle in the State open. Centennial beat Narbonne in Overtime something like 44-43 but that game could of gone either way. Bosco and Narbonne never played thou.at least in the past 30 years Maxpreps does have nationally ranked N#1 bosco n#2 Mater Dei n#17 Centennial n#24 Narbonne n#7 Hawaii St. Louis

I guess St. Louis was the only school that wanted to get tested back then besides Kahuku. I agree that St Louis needs to play powerhouse teams from California. Narbonne is good but they are not Mater Dei or Bosco or Centennial. Ghandi- you have the wrong year. St. Louis beat a team from San Diego that year. Not sure of the name but supposedly they had 6 players on the Defense with D1 offers. The safety and corner were the tops at their position and both committed to USC. How do I know? We got smashed from St Louis that year. Lol not a good memory but it is what it is. Good luck to all the schools this coming football season!

When will St.Louis travel and play a team like mater dei on the road? Narbonne isnt in the open division in the state of California. Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran, St. JOHN bosco and Centennial Corona those are the top high school teams in the Southern California.

I remember that Canyon Country game. They whipped St Louis. That was back around 1989. Local refs kept St Louis in it the first half. Same year St Louis beat Farrington in the Prep Bowl. I am not a robot.
