Unfortunately this open forum brings out the worst of some really sick people and the kids are exposed to it. If you or anyone else have the need to an open discussion and be civil about it then join me at each game. I’d be happy to talk about high school football in general. I have family playing all over the islands not just kahuku and I share the same pride and respect for all teams.

HPW/SA and any other rankings is for your entertainment only. It is quite simple the teams Will seed themselves with head to head competition.

If my scenario plays out where Kahuku beats Waianae and Kapolei beats Farrington then Kahuku wins the OIA Championship. Then Waianae beats Farrington in the consolation game and then Punahou beats St. Louis for the ILH championship that gives you your OIA 1,2,3,and 4 and your ILH 1 and 2. With this Kahuku would be the obvious #1 seed and mind you the #1 seed really doesn’t matter other than being the home team in the tournament and having the #4 OIA in your bracket rather than the #3.

Kahuku and Punahou #1 and#2 seeds Will have first round byes. St.Louis and Farrington plays in the quarters in Kahuku’s bracket and Kapolei and Waianae in Punahou’s bracket. I see St.Louis beating Farrington and Kapolei beating Waianae. Kahuku beats St.Louis and Punahou beats Kapolei in the semi. Kahuku beats Punahou to become back to back State D1 champions, yes D1 is what it really is. Now that’s just my scenario.

And look at their responses once Football Fan educated them on HHSAA processes and how they work. 87/88 or whoever retreat into their own “everyone is against us” bubble because they can’t stand the fact that they’re wrong. They can’t man up and admit that maybe they don’t know anything about how HHSAA actually works and move forward with a more educated view. They just reject and then insult Football Fan, who has been serving the kids and community for 12+ years, along with all the ADs, coaches, and teachers that serve and make up the HHSAA.

But then again, like Football Fan said, it’s easy to be internet tough guys and criticize without knowledge behind a computer screen. If they actually volunteered to work with Kahuku’s team (whether that’s coaching, booster, organizing potluck for the kids, equipment manager, whatever) then they learn about how everything works and ask the coaches and HHSAA committee itself how it works.

But nope. Look at their responses. It’s like talking to children.

“THE HHSAA HAVE BEEN PUTTING THE #2 TEAM FROM A LEAGUE OPPOSITE OF ITS LEAGUE CHAMPIONS FOR NEARLY 2 DECADES” Yes this is true because for the past 2 decades the ONLY #2 from the same league to play in the State Tourney was the OIA RUNNER UP. It would make no sense to watch a OIA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PART 2. Al said that a room of non idiots got together to discuss the seeding. You claim to have been part of said meeting. Obviously Al is a liar.”

88, league runner ups being placed in a different bracket opposite of the league champ has been standard practice for basically ALL sports. You may not know this, but there are more sports than just football, and the state tournaments are all done the same way. The only exception to this are individual sports like tennis, where they will seed 8 teams/players, and then the rest of the bracket is filled at random, unless two players from the same school meet in the first round, then they will move them.

If you’re ACTUALLY interested in learning how state tournaments are run, or even OIA tournaments, becuase they’re run in basically the EXACT same way (division champs in opposite halves of the bracket from the #2 team in the division) then go on the HHSAA website, call them, or volunteer for your local high school team and talk to the coaches and learn how the process works. Don’t just make things up and slam people who work hard for the kids because you have an inferiority complex with kahuku.

I rarely comment. But I have read the posts and it’s still the same. 87 and 88 come to the board and accuse everyone. They think everyone is after Kahuku. They probably blame the HHSAA for the rail, unemployment, obesity with our kids, low test scores, high cost of living, and who else knows.

It’s probably the HHSAA’s fault for not properly checking the railings at Ala Moana. HHSAA should do cancer research. They should also stop 3rd world hunger.

It’s always the HHSAA’s or ILH’s fault.

They are not content to let their boys play. They do this to hedge their bets since they are not confident. It’s quite simple since they are both very simple people. By hedging their bets by prefacing it with the ILH or HHSAA are unfairly making rules to hurt Kahuku, they have an excuse if Kahuku doesn’t win.

It’s quite transparent but due to their little mind they hope no one figures it out when in actuality a 3 year old can see it.

But in all honestly the rest of us know Kahuku Boys are a solid team with a great chance to win.

But 87 and 88 need to do it this way. They do it all the time and the community are growing quite tired and weary of them.

This is where we come to speak our minds freely. HPW the only ones qualified to monitor or whatever’s. If you don’t like it…go somewhere else or just don’t scroll down…but if you like preach, do it at church.
