These kids this year will play with the D1 teams in the D1 tournament (Hilo, Kauai High, Maui/Baldwin, St. Francis) They when hanged with Kamehameha Kapalama for three quarters until the coaches took out their starters to preserve them for the season. Once they seen Siale Hafoka go down, they started platooning the starters out. This team may not be the biggest, they might not be the fastest, but they do everything just right. IMUA LUNAS!! Props to Konawaena and Waipahu making it back. Those teams look strong. I know going be an awesome tournament. I look forward to this year’s tournament.

Yes, Lahainaluna is more than capable of beating D1 teams, NO DOUBT! But that doesn’t mean that’s where they belong! The student body at that school is small, and the turnout for the program is inconsistent. I’m pretty sure that after this year, if they do have an “option” like the ILH D2 teams ( I think it’s bogus!!) have, to opt for D1 playoffs, I can’t see them denying it! I’m not saying Lahaina would blow anybody, but I’m confident enough to say that they are good enough to win the D1 title this year, if they chose to contend in D1 earlier in the season. D2 have good enough opponents already..Waipahu, Kona, Damien, St Francis & Iolani are all good and any of those teams would fair pretty well against Hilo, Kauai and Maui High whom are all in the D1 bracket. I personally do not see any of those D1 teams beating Lahainaluna, although I do see a harder match up in the D2 bracket for the Lunas. In my perspective, D2 is stronger than D1 (NOT OPEN D1) this year

We staying where we at for a while. We’re no where near as skilled as most teams considering we’re a young team. And we don’t always beat Baldwin and Maui every year.

Plus, we don’t always beat the D1 teams from our league every year. Baldwin mostly and Maui High as well. And no we’re not like Iolani. We’re nowhere near as skilled as most teams.
