This is In response to #10 Victim. You clearly don’t know Chad Atkins, his wonderful coaching staff or any of us who have loved and supported this young Kohala
High School team. Chad has clearly stated the facts since this whole debacle started. He was indeed told that he was fired by the AD Laurie Koustik. If there is any bullying going around it’s the AD doing it, she has no concern for our school or our community.
I’m would say the person writing this “Victim” commentary is a friend of the AD. Shame on you!

Principal Stafford, please do what is right for our Kids.

On another note if there are any families who have a mentally disabled child, kudos to Coach Chad and staff for treating this special young man as one of the boys. My nephew shines when he is treated like everyone else… Liability?? No I call that kindness!

Why was the goal of this article? He pretty much cemented his fate. There is no way he will get rehired after airing his dirty laundry like this. It says in the article that discussions and hooponopono was in the works but sounds like It wasn’t enough for this guy so he’s trying to strong arm admin. This is actually showing that the bullying allegation against him might be true because he is being a bully and clearly trying to bully his way. Even when he’s talking about the pop Warner program, you can hear the bullying When he says, “i shut that idea down.” No mention of discussions, meeting, nothing, just shut down.

Seems like this guy is trying to play the victim so everyone feels sorry for him. It clearly states that he didn’t get fired instead the position will we opened up for other to apply. If he is as great a person and coach as he is making himself out to be he shouldn’t be worried about not getting rehired. Instead he decides to cry like a baby to whoever wants to listen and make up excuses about how he was wrongfully fired (which he wasn’t). If I was the AD I wouldn’t be able to trust him because if he doesn’t get what he want he is gonna throw a hissy fit and complain to the news till he gets what he wants. He says he didn’t bully anyone but it sure seems like he is trying to bully his way back with this article.

There so much to process with that list provided by the Coach to HPW.
Communication certainly broke down at some point and possibly trust.

Not a big fan of the beer drinking thing or the allegations of bullying but the rest seem to be minor offenses. But many small ones arent good either.

I hope they are able to resolve this and move forward. The community appears to love the guy and he is putting in the work to build the program from the youth leagues up. Maybe Ho’oponopono?

I am in disbelief that this has happened to Coach Chad Atkins. My husband has been a Coach for 9 years in high school 3 years as head coach. It was time for a change so when Chad came on as an assistant it was a sign for him to become a head coach for kohala high school. A new set of eyes for the football program. It was time to pass on the passion of football to Head Coach Chad Atkins. We couldn’t be any prouder of all the coaches for the 2019 season. They are for the boys and the community. Kohala is a very small town and football keeps the boys in check and we are a family. We need to fight for what is right kohala so put in your comments and concerns to the DOE!!! GO STRONG COACH CHAD AND STAFF
