The sound of the hit was sickening. From the 50-yard line, it happened so quickly and with a thundering thud. I’ve been watching football for a long time and I could tell that someone would be laid out on that play. At first, I thought it was delaura who took the brunt of the collision but he scrambled to his feet and immediately called to the BG bench for help. Prayed hard for the BG player and hoping for a speedy and complete recovery. The speed on both sides of the ball was unbelievable.

Prayers for Dahlin as he recovers

Regardless whether the home team or visiting team, we do not wish for any athlete to get injured. Along with the fans and residents of Hawai’i, I await to hear that Dahlin Mesake will fully recover, be able to return home soon, and to get back on the football field. Dahlin was a player on the opposing team. But that does not make him a person we do not care for. Like the other Bishop Gorman football players, Dahlin put his hard effort on the line last night to represent his home town and high school. He is an individual that we, the people of Hawai’i, care for, just as much as we care for our team members.

It would be an honor to meet Dahlin before he returns home, and to wish him a quick recovery. The 2019 football season has just begun, and Bishop Gorman needs his excellent skills on the field.

Best wishes to Dahlin and the Mesake family. Take good care, and much aloha.
