Football Recruiting at Punahou sucks. Student athletes that choose Punahou for their genuine love of the school get pushed to the side for the recruits that are just using Punahou. This practice has been around for awhile and rarely produces the desired results. The damage done to parents and students is real. Loyalty, fair play and integrity are lost at Punahou in promoting outside players that use the school for personal gain. The hype of the recruits is fake and manufactured. Plug the pipeline and restore school loyalty and sportsmanship.

Kamehameha might in some aspect “recruit.” Kam coaches might tell Hawaiian kids around the island that they want those kids to play for Kamehameha football one day. But even if they urged those kids to come play for them, they still have to get accepted into Kamehameha Intermediate or High School based off an academic test and an interview. There are so many parents that try to get their kids into Kamehameha schools, but only a small amount actually get accepted and there’s only a max amount of students allowed per class. So even if they are trying to recruit guys to play football at Kamehameha it’s probably not that effective. Plus if you transfer into Kamehameha from another high school, you have to sit one year before you can actually play in games due to ILH rules. If a star football player at one school got accepted into Kamehameha at the beginning of his Junior year, he wouldn’t be able to play a game for them until his Senior year. You’d have a better and more effective chance being “recruited” to another public school by claiming residency in that school’s district. (Mililani’s not sly! Do all those Polynesian boys actually live in the Mililani district?)

simple answer is no, Kamehameha does not recruit it’s players. I’m assuming that you’re referring to “recruiting” as Private school staff going to parents around the island and inviting their child to join the school, while offering financial assistance to go to that school. “Coincidentally” plenty of those students already happened to be excellent football athletes (ex: schools like St.Louis and Punaahou) you’re not sly when your football stars were those offered financial assistance! I think that’s how it works for “recruiting” at those schools, I’m not 100% sure.

Been sucking it for a while and its nice to see them beat these other two that obviously have recruited players.

This is ridiculous….6 of these teams haven’t played a game in 2 years! How do you know what they are going to look like and ILH only plays themselves. I guess everyone is just desperate to see football again.
