Jus so u know There is study hall during football season but the 4th quarter grades is what is considered to play in the fall. The varsity had 6 players on AP and JV had 11. Those students who screwed up in school are the ones to blame… plain and simple. No one else is to blame. Take care of your studies and be responsible. It really is that simple. The coaches and administrators are not to blame…it’s those students and their parents. They are selfish and don’t think about their teammates. And it’s funny how those parents of those kids are the ones complaining about the Coach. Maybe they should look in the mirror on how they are parenting their kid and stop judging others.
The varsity team is lacking numbers because they have uncommitted boys who would rather go to Sandy’s instead of working hard on the football field during the spring and summer. Their parents are a bunch of selfish complainers who have taught their kids to do exactly the same thing. It’s only a hand full of parents and players that are ruining it for Kaiser. And, unfortunately, they are spreading their poison to some of the JV parents. When my family and friends ask me what going on at kaiser and I tell them the truth, they trip. I tell them that this Coach and his staff are solid people. The problem lies with a few parents that go watch practice every day and drink beer and sit in a group and complain and grumble about the coaches. The sad thing is some of them is coaches on the dolphins pop warner team…the feeder program to Kaiser. Instead of supporting the coaches and being thankful, they judge and complain. They don’t know how to enjoy their kids high school days…they living through their kids. Super sad! I no understand why they never apply for the job when it was open. They think they so good and the sad thing is their kids think they better than their teammates. Hard for have unity when u get selfish parents and kids.

I sad for my son and his teammates that work hard everyday. He’s a senior and he loves the coaches and get so frustrated when he hear that one group of parents is trying for get the coaches fired. He sees that group of parents every day drinking beer at the park we practice at. He don’t understand why they there if they no like the coaches.
I don’t have the time to be at my sons practice every day. But when I do, I go to enjoy and support the coaches. They take time out of their own lives to help kids. That’s what I teach my kid…to work hard, do ur best, and be thankful to people who give their time. The JV parents and players jus gotta stay positive and support the coaches and the future will be bright for Kaiser. This coach knows what he’s doing. THANK YOU COACH MARTINEZ AND THE REST OF THE COACHING STAFF!! Know that most of us parents and kids appreciate and support u guys. Mahalo!

I predict that this will snowball in the years to come and could have a huge effect on football at this and other levels going forward. I actually was on the first JV and Varsity football teams at Kaiser, was a starter and got plenty of practice and playing time. One thing that was different from my dad’s and grandfather’s time playing football (high school and college) in the 1920s and 1940s, is that they were taught to use their shoulders and not heads, partially due to the limited protection of head gear (leather helmets). When I played in high school in the 1970s, you were taught to lead and hit with your head and I had “my bell rung” several times. I am wondering if my decline in memory and increased lability as I get older is not just a function of age, etc., but the result of some CTE. Despite my family tradition of playing and following football, I cannot see having my son doing the same, so I have him in TKD as an alternative and will only allow him the participate in low risk to the brain high school sports. BTW, his TKD school does not allow hits to the head.

Savage or not, I come from the thinking that if you (not you specifically, just anyone) feel strongly about something, or have something to say, then stand by your words. This anonymity is exactly what’s wrong with this comment section. Maybe people would be more diplomatic in their thinking if they had to identify themselves, therefore making for a more constructive and productive conversation, vs. just running at the mouth. Keyboard warriors no can. Have a great weekend! A🌈L🌴O🌺H🤙🏽A

When my older son played for Rich Miano, the program had study hall, EVERY day before practice in the cafeteria, where they did their homework and had volunteer tutors available to them. I don’t recall having those kinds of numbers of kids on AP at any given time. Seems to me that parents, the administration, and the coach need to collectively rectify that matter first. No grades, no play. 😔

It will only change if the parent’s shift their focus from football to academics. I don’t think many have the integrity. Without football, many do not have an identity.

ED 1st- I would hire you to be our Academic Advisor at Kaiser, with your vast knowledge and expertise in academia and business, then, when I move on to Alabama, you will come along with me like a Defries to Meyer and we will win many championships. At that point, you will have donated enough money to the RRFL that their testing scores will surpass the national average and there will be an excess of lawyers and doctors coming out of RR Land.

Thank you! I will be your tar baby! We would be famous!
