That’s right it hardly matters.. so let all the teams enjoy their ranking no matter what division. Truth is, no one remembers who won division two or three. They only remember the big boys in the big show. Sorry .

Everyone is getting NUHA over an HPW ranking the doesn’t mean ANYTHING !!! Who cares where what team is ranked? We all agree there should be a separate ranking for each division but it didn’t happen so let’s move on. The only ranking that matters will be who wins the KOA in each division, NOBODY remembers who finished 2 through 10.

Lahainaluna should be 8 and KS-Kapalama should be 6. ILH Open teams have no place below any D1 or D2 school. Head to head they would always win. There really is no difference between 8 and 10. Farrington and Kapolei could replace any of them as well.

Last year’s state final shootout was historic but that itself tells you neither Konawaena or the Lunas were that good. Wildcats beat D1 champ Hilo which was run by a backup QB by 2 points on an ultra muddy home field. Hilo smacked Iolani who were undersized all year. While Iolani does always show up in the postseason, Lunas barely beat them.

The MIL is the weakest this season in two decades. I’ll still give props to the Lunas for having a perfect regular season without allowing more than a single touchdown a game, but they really haven’t played anyone. At least they could show a 10-34 effort last season against KSK; their strongest opponent this year probably was Kapa’a. They are the absolute favorites in the D2 tournament, but they would encounter serious trouble in D1.

BIIF D1 is better than OIA D2 but below OIA D1. Hilo isn’t as stacked as last year as they lost almost all starters to graduation, but their skill players are just as good as anyone else in the state, especially in the WRs and the secondaries. I can see them being competitive in the D1 state tournament again this year (that is if they make it).

With the three division , I guess they need to rank
The teams. It will help sell the game. D2 in the top ten ? You right you right. But really. Don’t count the neighbor island champs out. They will pull it off in football soon. They have their dream teams too. And having to travel to Honolulu is very tough and costly.

The point is why are they ranked that high? Not hating but come on let’s make sense of this. If they are to come to Oahu our teams would kill them. Let’s see them playing a St louis or mililani or punahou. They’re doing a great job but let’s be real when has a d2 team been ranked #6 in the state???

Lahainaluna had no say in HPW ranking system someone decided to put them a number 6. Maybe one day when you guys can recruit and hanai most of maui the program can become more they can enter the open and give it a shot that Superferry they stopped could’ve help for all islands team discounts no can. till then I believe they can compete in the D1 straight up no bias.

Let’s be honest, if Lahainaluna had the same schedule as Waianae, Kapolei, or Farrington they would not be ranked 6th in the state. It’s a damn joke. I wouldn’t be surprised if they win the baby Koa trophy this year and continue to be in the D2 next year. Sandbaggers
