Since the turn of the century the program has produced quite a few D1 athletes off the top of my head, Nate Jackson (UH) Lono Manners (UH), Bryan Manefaiga (UH), Nate Russell (UH) , David Paaluhi (Oregon State), Wade Keliikipi (Oregon), Kennedy Tulimasealii (UH), Joey Nuuanu (UH)…that doesn’t mean that others haven’t gone on to school at the D2, D3, NAIA and JC level.

They don’t have the measurements. Could some of these guys play D1, yes. But you not going offer a 5’10” guy a scholarship if he not running 4.4.

He has a good GPA score and he’s been playing in the varsity since he was a sophomore doing other positions and QB! Also, how are the scouts gonna to see him and recruit him if you are not giving this boy a fare chance to be noticed out there in the field like the others!? High school football is a stepping stone for college football and other opportunities! I’d really like to see him excell in a great college with awesome education as well as academics!!! I wish that for all the local kids in Waianae!!! Believe me in the end what really matters is education and how far they want to take there path to future success!!!

Game went to who wanted it by playing disciplined
football.
Amosa Amosa has his Sabers Oline and Dline on check. Offense run threat and pass threat are dangerously on the move.
Defense has come off roaring and clawing at not only recovering loose balls, but also pouncing on runningback and stalking and attacking would be receptions from receivers. Sabers look hungry for their next meal.
Walter young and company have some work but still had a great comeback in the second half scoring two thrilling touchdowns!!!!! Not only the passing game was working, run game had glimmers of light in the late quarter. Rotating two runningbacks wasn’t enough. Waianae has a stable of great talent and should be played. Cramping, fatigue and injuries will be the result in games.
Big plays and big blocks have the Seariders surfing the ball in strong current. When the whistle blows…
There’s the problem. Aggressive football is key in this game. Extra curricular activities after the play have been the Seariders reef rash. Let’s get back to basics.
Snapping the ball is a problem on downs and extra points. Those points would have tied the game. Coaches use your whistles at practices. Stop unnecessary aggression after the whistle. Season is over next week. The reef rash still stings with this loss. Waianae can stop the nonsense. If not, the man in the gray suit will end your surf session in the playoffs…..
Goodluck to both teams. Play safe, play hard, and remember have fun.

I applaud anyone that is willing to sacrifice time and help coach football(or any other extracurricular activity) here on the island. But I also have a little more admiration for those doing it in the communities like Waianae, Kahuku, Farrington, etc.

It’s a tough gig. Lower income areas with passionate fans who expect wins but don’t understand all the work involved just to put a team on the field. Even the most basic of things like equipment can be a Headache for the coach. Never mind getting kids to see the importance of a solid GPA, some coaches expend so much energy just getting the kids to attend class.

As far as the game last night, Waianae looked pretty lethargic. No real passion or fire. Must’ve been overlooking Campbell who was firing on the other end of the spectrum.
