You didn’t think that we had the talent to counter your talent, how arrogant. You seriously don’t think any team in Hawaii can match Kahuku.
Just like with St. Louis, nobody could beat them for some time, then teams started to build up their programs and improve. Kahuku was the first team to defeat St. Louis in a title game, they then began their string of championship seasons and set a new bar of excellence. Now other teams are doing the same thing.
Kahuku was well coached and had great talent, but they lost because they ran into a team that could play them on an equal playing level, not because of bad play calling. In fact if anything they were primarily running during the game, that should please most Kahuku fans.

They could have easily blown Punahou away. Too bad their coaching for offense sucks. Kahuku fans blaming the refs but Kahuku knows too well you can never put the game in the refs hands. Bad coaching bad coaching bad coaching. Very talented players but very bad coaching.

Or that I have no right to speculate on the outcome of a game, unless I personally have watched these players growing up, what a bunch of horse kukae. This is not Laie park days and this defense is more than capable of slowing, if not shutting down Punahou’s running game. I can appreciate your passion, but what I’m saying is not rubbish, this Kahuku defense has shut down power running teams like Farrington and top tier runners like Vavae Malepeai and Ranan Mamiya. I have the utmost respect for Wayne Taulapapa as a runner, but when other top tier runners are getting stifled by this defense and these runners just like Wayne have very good offensive lines also, what more is there to be said. I have not questioned whether Wayne is a top tier back, he is, but so are the others and yes Malepeai from Miliani is faster and more explosive, that’s been shown more than once, you have to be blind if you don’t see that. This fact was not being used to put down Wayne, but rather to illustrate how powerful this defense is. I’m done bantering with a person who can only use emotion as a counter argument.

This kid is the real deal. He runs angry as if you just slapped his Mama or something. Its one thing to talk about these kids as if you watched them grow up and see their talent first hand and its another when you just talk rubbish.

They can also match the skill positions Kesi Ah Hoy is just as good a runner as Wayne Taulapapa, also they have a secondary and tertiary option at fullback in Salanoa Alo-Wily and Pena FItisemanu, which Punahou doesn’t. Keala Santiago and Alohi Gillman are just as athletic as Kanawai Noa and there are two of them as threats versus just Kanawai. Even at the quarterback position Tuli Wily-Matangi is superior in mobility and experience with the size and arm strength being almost equal. Their defense will have no problem in slowing down Wayne Taulapapa, he is not as fast as Vavae Malepeai or as explosive and you saw what happened. Punahou’s defense can hardly be called dominant, I watched them play Kamehameha and St. Louis, on both of those games they were being consistently being moved on. In fact in the St. Louis game they were being ‘shredded’ by a sophomore quarterback who was not being pressured by their vaunted defense. I conclude that Kahuku is actually the superior team in recent performance and overall talent.
