Great planning and use of time while there. Its impressive what they were able to squeeze in to that trip. Great experience for all involved and come away with a “W” on top of that helps boost their spirits after not being able to play Kahuku due to the hurricane. Cant wait for the rest of the season for all the teams.

Winning the game is great. However, the trip in itself is a chance for them to bond as a team, see and experience things outside of their community, and see what the college experience is all about. Getting an opportunity to see what a Power Five D1 program, like UCLA, and Azusa Pacific, a small college in the PacWest Conference, look like is a great opportunity. Only a small percentage of players are recruited at the D1 level, but a small college like Azusa Pacific can be a great opportunity. After all it’s about getting an education and still being able to play football. There are many more small colleges all over California, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona that come to the islands and look at some of the players in the local high schools. Sounds like Kapolei used this trip for more than a football game. Kudos to Coach Hernandez and his entire staff.
