He put them on the map. And then they ran him out of town. I don’t know if people fully appreciate what it took to make Chaminade respectful. The lack of money at the school. High school gym. Merv Lopes = Chaminade. That guy had Kailua in the state high school basketball final almost every year he was there. Then Chaminade stole him away. yeah, Merv Lopes did go to Iolani. You assume cuz he coached at Chaminade and was Pordagee that he must have gone to St Louis.
