Arent the all-star teams determined by the coaches? Maybe the questions could be directed to them. From what I heard the coaches meet at the end of the season for a meeting to determine the all-stars. Maybe lack of representation at the meeting? or perhaps not enough advocacy by the coach? Those batting averages tho……..

No doubt Roosevelt SB had a successful year and Coach Clay deserves Coach of the Year with all the underclassmen on the team. Kudos to Roosevelt.
But if the roles were reversed, would you still feel and justify your reasons the same way? It’s not just Kaiser, but there should be more representation from Kailua, Castle, and Moanalua on the first and second teams (if the player deserved it of course).

Maybe the “Miano” curse lives on for Kaiser. Damn you Rich!!!

stats do not accurately represent whether the players deserve first or second team or whatever else. obviously your opinions are biased and thats fine but the coaches voted and this is what they believed should be the teams. seli is an amazing athlete who deserves player of the year but with this achievement they most likely felt she did not need to be on the first team on top of that. perhaps they wanted to commend another athlete (mari foster) for her efforts. honestly it’s not that serious and its just recognition, roosevelt proved a point this year in comparison to the last… DIS ROOSEVELT

Can anyone explain these stats for the selection of all stars on 1st and 2nd team?

Ab Hits Bat Average
Player 1 27 5 .185 first team
Player 2 35 9 .257 first team
Player 3 23 4 .174 second team

Roosevelt 9 players on 1st and 2nd team. Kaiser (champs 14-0) 3 players on 1 & 2 team

Yes, I agree. Makes no sense that the player of the year (Seli from Kaiser) ends up on the second team. How is that even possible??? In fact, the entire infield of the OIA East second team should be on the first team. Maya (SS from Roosevelt) was their best player and she’s on the second team while her teammates are on the first team??? Someone should recheck to see if correct. Do it for the young ladies that deserve it. Mahalo…

Seli Aholelei from Kaiser is listed as player of the year from the East but she’s only listed on the second team selection. Shouldn’t she be on the first team?

Local players level of play improving every year, will be recruited more and more by mainland colleges. Maybe Hawaii can start recruiting a little more local talent for the future, start building an identity for our team. Think that has been lost somewhere along the way. Not saying we should not recruit mainland players, since we have been fortunate to get some great players. But start thinking about future coaching staff, can be big a difference for players.
