“Hawaii Grown” is our little section at the Star-Advertiser in which we focus on kids from here playing sports on the mainland. We have beat writers for all of the main UH sports and do stories daily on the home team.

I need your email. I wanted to report some stats from some Hometown heroes. I am the WR coach here at Pacific Lutheran University (D-III) in Tacoma, WA. I graduated from Roosevelt HS in 1993 and I wanted to report on our 808 boys here at PLU.

* Chase Rhinelander (OLB) (KSK’17) led the team with 14 tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss.

* Shaun Kim (FS) (Kaiser ’17) recorded 7 tackles.

* Jared Elwin (CB) (Roosevelt ’18) recorded 6 tackles.

* Mykah Tuiolemotu (DL) (Mililani ’19) recoded 4 tackles including 2 sacks and 2 TFL’s.

* Cheyn Tam-Switzer (CB/SS) (Waiakea ’19) had 1 tackle 1 PBU and a game saving interception to seal the deal.

* Alex Brost (K/P) (Hawaii Prep ’16) – Made 1 of 2 Fg’s and coverted 2 point after tries. Alex also had 5 punts for 192 yards with a long 49 yards. He also had 3 tackles while covering the kickoff.

* Ryan Chang (WR) (Mililani ’19) – Had 1 kick off return for 18 yards. Started at WR but did not record a catch.

* La’akea Ane (TE/FB) (KSK ’19) had 1 carry for 2 yards

* Colin Chun (OL) (Kaiser ’17) -started at Guard for the Lutes.

*Pacific Lutheran University 17
California Lutheran University 10 * Game played 9/14. Season opener for both teams.

Milton played three years already so he’s a senior (hard to belive!) and Maae graduated from Bishop Gorman. Only H.S. grads so hence no Taulia Tagovailoa or Sol-Jay Maiava next year. That’s just how we designate “Hawaii Grown” kids or else it would get too crazy trying to track all these kids who moved.

But thanks guys for reading and if you notice any omissions, please let me know. Googled every FBS and FCS roster, so you can imagine how much time it took. Could have easily overlooked someone.
