Just some things to think about:

>> Noe Kong-Johnson let in three goals vs. Mililani in the state quarterfinals. … Honorable mention.
>> Tolleson dominated the BIIF and was extraordinary in the states. … First team.
>> Haraguchi was phenomenal in leading Campbell to the OIA championship and deep into the states. … Second team.
>> Bowler and Totherow’s names, as well as Kamehameha’s Sarah Lau’s name, came up a lot more than Hope Tsuneyoshi’s name as far as ILH defenders are concerned. Weird, but true, so maybe you are right and it is a good idea to speak with more coaches. Throughout the years, I’ve seen a lot of bad selections for all-league teams, so we don’t base our decision on whether they made player of the year in a league or not.
>> And, as you already noted, it’s not an exact science.

I agree with the first post, you might want to ask more coaches next time. I don’t see how the only Punahou player you have in first 11 is the defender you picked yet who was honorable mention on All ILH team and Scoringlive.com AllHawaii team. Yet the Punahou freshman and their goalie were first team All ILH and first team ScoringLive.com All Hawaii team. The goalie has been a perennial first team goalie and the freshman forward was second in ILH in scoring and according to SL stats had big games scoring in all 4 games vs top ILH teams Kam and Iolani including scoring in both wins vs Kam. Neither Iolani forward scored vs Kam in two ties and according to scoring live a majority of their goals came against weakest ILH teams. No knock on any of the players, all very good players. Just weird as a freshman who is only underclassman on one All State team and was very dominating but left off. A larger omission than that is speaking of Kam you don’t even haveTsuneyoshi on either first or second top 11 and she was defensive player of the year. Leaving her and the Punahou keeper Kong Johnsen off both teams is shocking. But hey we all have our opinions that’s the whole idea behind the board. At least these terrific athletes are getting recognition.

valid points. Goo had considerably more support from coaches and that is the main reason.

Why would you add a second Iolani player as a first team striker and put Halvorsen the ILH second leading scorer behind Hori(by 1) who also scored 5 goals more than the other Iolani forward and had 5 goals and scored in both games vs Iolani and both games vs Kam as only a freshman. She helped lead her team to a ILH championship and season long#1 ranking till they were upset by a good Mililani team . Yet you put the freshman Halvorsen on the second 11 as a striker even though she had 5 more goals than Goo and scored all of Punahou’s big goals in the big games. ScoringLive.com had it right putting her All State first team striker with Hori and Furuta. Goo is a terrific player and deserving of the first 11 but not at the expense of taking the Punahou freshman’s spot.
