This time I’m watching, expecting, the foul but the defender pushes the player, sending him flying out of bounds! Two shots and possession. Different spirit. Lol!

I would have done exactly the same thing. Promise. Thing is, wouldn’t have worked on me. I’d tell Dean, “Good try brada but, bonus shots, but no possesion.” Gots to keep the spirit alive, not kill it.

I give anyone credit for trying their best. Anyone don’t like it? They can sign up to be a ref since they think they can do a better job. It is not easy. And it isn’t monetarily rewarding.

The rule book is there as guidelines. Officials at this level should be looking for advantages/disadvantage as they should not be rule book officials. Calling the game based on the “spirit” of the rules should have been the intent of the officiating crew from the start of the game.

I was not at the game. My knowledge of the game is based on what I have read in the Star-Advertiser. The only problem that I had with the change in the call was the timing of the call and was the call changed based on a conversation with Coach Dean. Based on the rule book it was probably the correct decision. But was the game prior to the incident called by the book or were the officials calling the game based on the “spirit” of the rules.

If its not an over the top push, I ain’t calling it. I know the situation at hand, EXPECT to see that foul. Blow it immediate because in most cases, there’s gonna be a few more and its good to let them know where I draw the line. Despite what the rule book says. I read it as part of the ‘spirit’ of the rule.
