I’ve ref’d in the ILH, OIA, and the outer islands. There are so many good players that it is just way too hard to agree on who the best is, or was, or will be. NO ONE knew that Keene would be this good when he was in high school, let alone the one year he played here in Hawaii. Miah was a very special player and showed us ALL that a very small Hawaiian point guard could do damage at a D1 level. But, there are so many players, given the chance, that could do very well at the next level or higher.

But, just speaking about this kid. I’ve already ref’d FIVE of his games. I love this kids attitude….He says nothing to us referees at all and I’ll admit, we miss a lot of calls on him because he is so fast and so strong. Guards just bounce off of him. Please remember that once the OIA started, he’s only played half of each game, that includes Kalaheo/Kailua/Mckinley/Moanalua……

All I’m going to say about him is that he doesn’t talk about himself at all, so I had to as his coach out of curiosity……..Stanford, Santa Clara, BYU, Gonzaga, Virginia, Penn State
and these are the schools that have only recently contacted his coach, Brandon Akana. I realize interest is one thing and offers are another, but look at Hogland from Iolani, he is 6’10, had dominated the ILH for 2 years, and only has ONE priority walk-on offer from UCSB……

This kid is good but I would pick Miah Ostrowski (punahou) over him as the best PG last 10 years.
Punahou’s structured offense actually held back his true Talents.

Had the young man been playing in Hawai’i the last 3 years instead of West Virginia, we might be having a totally different conversation.

He is leading the entire NCAA in scoring at the D1 level.

Love this kids attitude and outlook on life, comes from a good family and community. I remember his Dad Kahi running the courts up at Kekuhaupio gym and displaying his dunking ability for Hawaii select in vegas.

From what I saw in the Iolani classic this kid is the best PG Hawaii has had in maybe the past 5-10 years? Anyone have any other input on that?
