I would not say the kids are suffering. They might not be happy, but suffering?

Let’s put this into perspective. There are homeless kids. There are kids with cancer. There are kids who lost their parents. That is really suffering.

Not being able to play sports isn’t the greatest thing, but it is no where near suffering.

Awesome to hear ILH is playing sports. The OIA and the state doesn’t care about our athletes. The state doesn’t want to take any responsibility so the public school athletes are losing out. This will be the second season of losing spring sports. Half of an athletes high school career. State lets tourists in by the thousands, but will not let our own kids play baseball with nine on the field. If Ige or Green had a kid in school sports I’d bet we be hearing “play ball”.

Can the rest of Hawaii jump on board too please? What are the rest of the AD’s doing at this point. Are we saying that Saint Louis is so far ahead of the game that they, and only them can figure out how to provide athletics for the kids? Come on Hawaii. These kids are suffering and all I hear is meetings, meeting, meetings…And no action. If DOE wants to make pay cuts, maybe start with the ADs since they don’t seem to be doing anything. LET THE KIDS PLAY!!!

So “Damien” is playing games on an outside court? Is that even legal under Covid protocol? That doesn’t sound right. Everyone else canceling seasons, no games, no practice but they are playing club teams at I am assuming a district park. Must be nice.

In reply to LiveAloha. Could be, but for the record the boxscore sent by Saint Louis reads “Punahou Club.” Our keiki team played Team X a few years ago and they were a mix then, too. I‘ve made a clarification in this story.

Hi Paul, just for the record. Team X is a club team made up of kids from several schools. I think you might be thinking of a different club team that only has kids from a certain school. Very nice article regardless. Wishing all the best to the athletes.
