Uncle Joe – Baldomero for sure. All hustle. Gave the top scorers on other teams a really hard time.

Solely based off of the state tournament games, I feel the defensive player of the year gotta go to Cody Sauvao. I’m not the best judge for the entire first team because I didn’t watch every game in the tournament, but I feel Ah Hoy belongs on the first team. Honestly, Avea and Fotu could even be added on that but I would like to see guys on the all-defensive team who weren’t named to the original all-tourney team (unless you just had a ridiculous stud player).

All the games were exciting and full of great competition. Only have one question: Why does a team get to play in its home gym for a State Semi-final game. Not to take anything away from Kalani but the State Tournament Committee needs to find a way to make all games at a level playing field. Reading the article not only did they get to play in their own gym but they also practiced in the gym the same day of the tournament. No other teams were able to practice in the gyms that were hosting the games. Kalani could of played Seabury Hall at St. Francis at 7:00pm instead of playing at Kalani. Did it make a difference, maybe one point. Would of saw a St. Francis versus Seabury Hall rematch of last year. Need to look at this.

Seriously, we gotta at least have 6 guys recognized for their defensive prowess. Show the kids there’s honor in playing hard-nosed, scrappy, bust your elemu defense.

Too bad some boys had to be left off, but that’s the way it goes.
